I have heard that PS3 arn't being sold that much. IS it becuase of the price or is it because it isn't a good system. I have had a PS1 and PS2 and i have liked them both. But hows the third?

I don't think they are selling as well as anticipated. The price is pretty steep, and right now there just aren't that many quality games for it. It MIGHT sell better when there are more/better games, but it's just a spendy thing for a lot of folks.

they aren't selling because the ps3 came out with such an advanced technology. i believe only the ps3 has 1080p high definition capabilities, so it'll take a while for game companies to adapt to it. So it doesn't mean the ps3 sucks, it just means its such an advanced system that it takes longer for the game companies to make a game thats good enough for the ps3. just wait a couple more years and the ps3 will dominate

I think they arent getting bought that much because, xbox 360 is almost the same, Well, except for it not being as good, but its 200-300 dollars cheaper, so people would rather just settle on something that isnt as good and has the same game selection and more then something thats 600 $ and is only a little bit better with a crappy game selection

One thing is for SOME, the price may seem alittle high. They may not think it will be worth it, until they know for sure it will have more then a few games for it that they will like.

the ps3 is too expensive... and there isnt a good line up for the system... most of the games coming out for the ps3 is also on the xbox360what ps3 needs is a blockbuster game that makes all the consumers want to purchase the console, much like what final fantasy 7 did for the ps1. -FFXIII-MGS4these are the games that is going to make ps3

There's also the whole adult industry issue. Since the advent of home video, the tech that allows itself to be licensed for adult entertainment has been the winner of the 'next-gen' wars. That's one of the big reasons we all ended up owning VHS instead of Beta. Sony wouldn't allow Betamax to be used for adult films. If Sony repeats that error . . well . . . sex vs video games? I think I know who's gonna win!

Well, it has plenty of new technologies. Most families (or rather, the head of the family) have some form of phobia for untested technology. Give it a year. When FF13 and MSG4 it'll sell like hotcakes.

the thing is that sony didn't really step up i mean the playstation 3 is just like the ps2 but more powerful which makes me think that sony is kinda gay with a capital y

if your parent has a lot of $$, go ahead and buy it. However, my recommendation is to save your hard earned $$ to buy a Wii first, and wait for your favorite games come out on PS3 first before you buy it.

Great idea, I'm getting a Wii soon, PS3 is expensive 4 a games console, but it's cheap 4 a blu-ray dvd player thou, so that's why some people are buying ps3's, but not everyone

The system, worldwide, is actually on a higher sales arc than the PS1 and PS2 were. It is a steady seller, just like the previous two were (note that a blockbuster title kicks off the sales, which usually comes around a year to two years into the system's life). As why it's not suddenly at pace with the 360 despite the year difference in release time? Well, the $600 tag will burn a person's wallet into cinders easily, especially with not one, but TWO cheaper systems also on the market (notice that the quickest selling system this generation right now is the cheapest). #2, the exclusives aren't rolling out yet. If you're looking for PS3 games, 90% of them are also on the 360, and are probably less buggy (thanks, lazy developers). As Sony's first-and-second parties and remaining exclusive third-party games get worked on, the 360 is getting their investments from one and two years ago rolling out, and the Wii gets shovelware from all sides (play Pong, with no graphical update or added modes or even a real point... but with MOTION CONTROL! Seriously, is it just going to be GameCube all over again with incredible games from Nintendo and **** from everyone else?). And #3, the system has to have had the worst marketing ever. The PR is just aimless jabbering about multimedia, the commercials did nothing to prove that it plays games, and every gaffe they make is eaten up by the press like the little white balls in Hungry Hungry Hippos. I thought the "Jump In" commercials (like the jump rope one) were pretentious and bad... until the "Play B3yond" commercials started. Crying dolls? Flowers with eyeballs? Paint exploding? Could we maybe show a game here or there, guys?

Worldwide sales are actually pretty good. Technically it's on a slightly slower worldwide sales arc than the PS2 was by the time it reached this age, but better than the PS1 by far. In particular, it seems to be strongest in Europe right now where it seems to have the highest sales velocity. It's rate of success in the US is pretty steady, but not fast.In short, people have kind of said it already -- it's expensive, and there is not a very strong lineup of big hits that covers a wide genre expanse. As more games come out (and Sony have also mentioned a price drop for the holiday season), there's more value in actually getting one, and that's really for you to decide whether you really want it or not.

Nobody is buying the PS3 because it's way too expensive, and because there isn't any good games. That is why the Wii is doing so well, plus is has the wii-mote and such.

I think it is mainly the price. That is the reason I don't have one yet, but I want one.

The main point is the price. Whoosh. It's sort of like... you getting hit with a stick but instead it's your wallet who's recieving the blows. Now to think of it, the price hasn't really changed alot yet. Most people might buy it when the price goes down too.. $400-$500? The games are a needles with the stick pricing at $40-$70 per game. It's pretty pricey if you think of it like that. But the graphics, resoultion, gameplay and functions are all fantastic. So what can I say? It's a pretty balanced out consol, except for the fact that the games are overly priced. Many people also anticipated that PS3 would be a huge hit on the market, but they hadn't imagined the price to be that steep, so that pretty much covers it. That's some of the plenty reasons why PS3's aren't getting sold to it's maximum efficiency. Maybe after a couple months people will rush to the stores and ask if there are anymore PS3's left :schmoll:. Cheers.
