Tales of Symphonia. I don't think you can go wrong with that.

Tales of Symphonia = major win. I love that game to bits. I play it nearly every single day! I bought it actually a few years after it came out (by then all the good stores have taken the Gamecube games down), but I heard it was super good and worth it, so I bought it. It was way more than worth it - to me, it's almost mandatory to play this through at least once. It wouldn't be hard, since once you start you can't stop your fingers, haha.

You will buy Tales of Symphonia..... (says in a trance). That game has sucked up my life since I first picked it up. I've beaten it like six times, I have figurines of some of the characters.... *cough* Really though it is a great game, the battles system is fun, the story is a little cliche, but there are quite a few twists in it. The sidequests are fun, the voice acting is very good, though some of the characters can get annoying. It is also a two player game, my friend played it with me, and I convinced her to buy it. I still play this game, the sequel makes me sad, it is nowhere near as good as the first one.I realize that the person probably wouldn't need my opinion anymore, but this topic is still active, and I have issues with my TOS addiction, sorry. <_<But I'd definitely suggest TOS to any RPG lover. Also try Skies of Arcadia, (too many random battles but still fun), Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and If you can find it Master Quest/Oot for the Gamecube.

Tales of Symphonia would have to be the best RPG for the gamecube simply because it had 2 discs. And also slightly for the gameplay and unique graphics.

The Gamecube didn't offer a lot in terms of GOOD RPGs...but of what little pool there was of the genre on that particular platform, Tales of Symphonia was definitely one of them.

ToS will take you and suck hours from your life but there's a game that I play where I've racked up just over 300 hours and I'm still not done with it. The would Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II. Episode III is card based and not all that great so recommended keep to the firsts. The level cap is 200 which is less than ToS but it takes a lot longer. I'm Tuna and I'm a Lv 128 RAcast.

Tales of Symphonia! Loved the story, battle mode was awesome (though ToA greatly improved upon it), and the characters thoroughly enjoyable. But if ToS is not your thing, then I'd say try Skies of Arcadia Legends. You get to collect members for your crew, choose what you want your island to look like, and search for discoveries while trying to save the world.

I really liked Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, though I have no idea if it qualifies as rpg or as action/adventure. :)

Skies of Arcadia was truly amazing. ToS was on a close second, and FFCC on a third, but Skies of Arcadia just gets it right. It was one of the first gamecube games i played and it was too good. I ENJOYED THE PIRATE SHIP BATTLES WAY TOO MUCH! One of the first games I witnessed where it's not just about the characters fighting but instead in this case, a ship. The game took rather long to beat too.

I recommend Paper Mario (both series) for their own sense of difficulty, and both games are fun. :-)
