Xp is much better at the moment, Vista was thrown together and was released too soon! It requires more time to be spend workin out the bugs. Plus XP is much lighter if you do not have sufficient ram to support the os. Which is not my case WITH 1.5 GIGS ram!!yea

vista is so amazingly graphically intensive, it's not even funny. I wouldn't get vista if you paid me (unless it was enough to buy xp or a good linux)

I am a Vista user. Well Vista features a better environment with great graphics, however it also features bugs and some compatibility problems.. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

XP, definitely. quick question though...can you run games for XP, like Fable: the lost chapters, on Vista. I see no reason why you couldn't, but i haven't tried it yet so i was wondering if anyone knew...

Vista is a really nice step up from XP, but if you have less than a gig of ram, forget about it

xp is requires less hardware. if you dont have the newest hardware.. vista wouldn't run smooth on it..but if you have that.. vista is newer and more secure.

Vista has a lot of issues so far, so it's best to stay with XP until Vista turns stable.

There are still a lot of compatibility issues for Vista,... I have to admit it is very pretty... but until it just works.. I would still go with XP

My vote goes to XP seeing as how I'm perfectly happy with it and find it very stable. I'll give Vista another year or so to work out the bugs before I consider switching.

I vote vista. Aeroglass gives it a nice visual update over xp, and I find that for general usage vista is more responsive and less prone to locking up.Also, though most people won't care, as a computer science guy I find a lot of what microsoft has done under the hood for vista very interesting, it's a much more secure and modular os now, more unix like. This means little for most people, other than that vista is less likely to get virii and such, and it's much easier for microsoft to upgrade vista without breaking compatibility now. Which is the primary purpose of vista, create something functionaly similar to xp that allows microsoft to have an easier to work with code base that will allow better stability and compatibility in the long run.

Vista is way pretty! But I can't use any firewalls on it, can't play games on it etc. It's a shame :'(

Like many here have already said, Vista is all glam and effects. Not particularly very stable yet...but it is getting there. The 64 bit edition is even worse.I've been using vista for the past 6 months and I'ts grown on me. Though im still gunna say Windows Xp is better. Way more stable and a lot more support.

zdnet.com showed a movie on which Vista was giving the user 1 minute and 30 seconds to save all its work because it was going to reboot. And i told myself "What if I dont have time to reboot?"and it dawned on me that Vista was just another hardware-hogging eye candy OS.You don't get to see those errors on XP or on a Mac.

well if youd been at the toilet when that happened you would have been.... mad, i like xp which is what i have at the moment and vista has some security issues, as soon as it was released microsoft found out it could be hacked so quickly, shame on them

Presently XP is better, but hey, who knows things could change when Vista SP1 comes out. I heard Microsoft is redoing the kernel.
