Vista is just too busybody in my opinion. Ever since I ask my friend to help me load it up into my computer, I been wanting to get rid of it. There been so many simple errors or...overall it's quite an annoyance. Yeah so it can run some games better than XP but i rather play those games on my console. Vista itself would have been about the same price combining all those games.

for me I would still prefer XP...yes Vista is supposed to be more secured, productive and has a lot more features than XP but it still has a lot of disadvantages especially for pc's with low memory ram....though the minimum requirements is only 512mb ram and 800mhz processor, believe me! that is not "realistic"...I bought my brother a new dell inspiron w/1gb ram and with 1+ ghz dual-core processor and it still damn slow!....vista is alot bigger than XP so it's normal that it will require higher memory/processor.Another thing is that there are still alot of software/hardware out there that doesn't support Vista, what if you want to buy an RPG game and you want to use it on your brand new notebook/desktop which of course has Vista but that game doesn't Vista...you're screwed!

It is hard to say which is better because it depends on how good your system is, and how much you know about computers. I use XP on my computer but if i had atleast 2gb of DDR2 ram and a 2.0+ dual core processor then i would go for vista. Though vista has a whole bunch of security blocks that piss me off, because i tried to install a game on my girlfriends laptop and it kept asking me if it was okay to continue. THats not really a con but it does get old after a while.

I heard Vista was designed because it has a less chance of developing a virus.

i hav windows Vista, and it has some pretty handy new features. However, if i could i would go bak to windows XP.Windows Vista is far too laggy and it as some security loopholes. Also the new secruity system is really annoying. It asks if i should allow before i do anything.Windows XP (updated with Service pack 2) is the best. i really regret upgrading to Vista. Its really slow and alot of programs aren't compatible with Vista.

I say XP. 1) Its cheaper by far2) Alot less popups3) It focuses too much on little extras and esoteric tasks, whereas XP gets all the basics solidly right, and is easy for the advanced user to navigate4) More games are compatible with XPOne of the only reasons i would consider Vista is for DX10

I just heard they support for new generation, game, work, entertainment. but it not the time for Vista yet. right now stick with XP. We have the long culture with the XP so we know what we need, and we have what we need.

K here's what I think, right now, I run Vista because I just bought a new computer and they all come with vista now a days. Of course at first I would rather have a XP OS.Vista looks pretty cool, but it actually slows down your computer because of all the crap that they have running in the background (Some useful and some are dead weight)Of course, there's also the compatibility problems with software and hardware and there's also a few bugs that they have to fixBUT HEY! The good news is, that there's still a long life span for Vista. Microsoft will release Service Pack 3 for the XP and that'll be it, they will stop maintanance with XP (Unless they REALLY SCREW UP which is a possibility)But vista, there's still a long way to go and hopefully they will come up with a solution to all this hate towards vista. So, short term - XP: cause IT WORKS! long term - Vista: cause it WILL WORK (hopefully)P.S. I HATE HOW EVERYTHING YOU DO ON VISTA PROMPTS YOU FOR PERMISSION - I turned off most of it but it still does it for some stuff (it's kind of an overkill)

I found the transition to Vista very painless. Infact i have had next to no problems. Could be because i have a fairly new Vista Certified comp. I mean they've had enough time to sort out bugs and stuff. Have had zero crashes so far for example.Have managed to sort out all the bugs/imcompatibilities in games and programs with the Compatibility Tab. <- people should use it more.

Do you know how long it took them to sort out the bugs in XP? We're talking years here. I'm not migrating until it's been tested by time. :bXP for me, until I pick up another 2K Pro license.

Vista is good if your PC can handle it. I recommend not upgrading to Vista from XP expecially not to the 64bit version of Vista cause all of your drivers will be in the 32bit architecture, rendering them useless on Vista. And if you have an older PC I doubt you can even get your drivers to work on 64bit architecture. But yeah, if you are buying a new PC go with Windows Vista 64bit cause you can have literally 16.8BILLION Gigabytes of ram (2^64 vs 32bit 2^32 (4GB)) and now a days PC's will be requiring more than 4GB cause a good video card will take away .5/4 of that ram you have, vista running itself will take away another 1/4 then programs will take away another .5 so right away your PC will only have 2/4 GB's of ram to run off, and at 32 bit architecture it won't be able to process as much so you're load time will be like... 20 seconds instead of 5? lol. I know not many people care about the 15 seconds different, but really, 6-8Gb's will last you many years while 4GB will give you some lag if you try to minimize newer games to send your friend a email or something or even try to record your pc while playing some of the new higher ended games.

Knock on wood but I've been enjoying vista with only a few glitches or hangnails.I don't know if anyone has seen the series of ads done my MS where they show people a new build of windows, I think they call it Mohave or Mohad... well... They show it to people after they ask what they heard about Vista, they see this Fake* os and to their surprise in the end it is Vista. and they all walk away amazed.I was scared when I got my laptop. But It works fine.I still have xp on the desktop only because it is and out dated machine. But the two network together real well and everything is compatible together.I think its pretty solid.

1) Well, they don't sell XP anymore.2) I have no popups with Vista at all3)Vista has more features. Readyboost, etc.4) True, but newer games were suppose to be best with Vista.

XP... Vista looks too good, got cool features yeah, but its backward compatibility is total BS. :D I don't wanna lose compatibility for 80% of my older software and games just for half a dozen newer ones (there are VERY FEW games that are Vista only and not XP, such as Shadowrun)... Microsoft had BETTER NOT let us down with Seven >_<

I'm gonna talk about Vista 64bit vs 32bit for awhile.Windows XP was a 32bit operating system, so even if you had a processor capable of using 64bit data architecture, XP wouldn't support the function, which in itself is A FREAKIN AWESOME FEATURE.Pros:Speed: According to Vista Benchmark tests, Vista is about 10% faster than it's 32bit twin. It is capable of operating many more FLOPS (floating point operations per second), which is everything you do.Vista 64bit can allow like 16.8 BILLION Gigabytes (2^64)of Ram vs 32bit operation systems 4GB(2^32 bytes), which in today's world, is looking less and lessCons: Most programs are written in 32bit architecture, so Vista has had some problems running them, which is the biggest argument that "omg Vista can't run such and such" but that's not the case. WOW64 (Windows on Windows 64) can run most 32bit applications relatively well. And newer pc's drivers are configured in 64bits making Vista perfect... all the hatred from Vista was derived from people who upgraded to Vista, and all drivers were written in 32bit architecture, making them run horribly on Vista due to WOW64 sucked at the time.So it's some blame to peoples stupidity of upgrading to a 64bit system when they shouldn't have, and that Microsoft should have worked harder on switching from 32bit to 64bit, and since they didn't there are millions of pre-mature Vista haters out there. It's a remarkable operating system, and thanks to things like the Mohave Experiment and other Experiments showing how good Vista really is, people are finally getting the full story and not just talking to people who've never even used it before and say "OMG IT SUX" Mohave Experiment: http://www.mojaveexp...om/?fbid=BN7_v8 (Watch what I've said instead of reading it)

People please, if you haven't ever tried Vista, how can you know if it's good or not? Here's the rundown:XP:Pros:-Compatible with just about everything-All the kinks worked out alreadyCons:-Doesn't look as nice-Less protected from virusesVista:Pros:-Pretty nice look-Extra protection from computer attacks by making you verify administrative actionsCons:-Regular bugs from being as of yet mostly untested-Major compatibility issues-Stops you from doing some fun stuff (If you're into hacking mmorpgs protected by gameguard, make sure you use .dll hacks [that need to be injected] otherwise you get a BSOD) including editing kernel data (which is important for the aforementioned reason)So there it is, I'd prefer to have XP (I've had it before), but I'm stuck with Vista. Make up your own mind.

XP is not a brand, it's a operating system, the "brand" would be Windows, created by Microsoft, which is the same for Vista. And it's only more common cause it came out first? Microsoft should just create a Beta trial for people who already have XP. People do not know what they are missing. It's the best operating system, ever.
