Definately, at least it did for me..pokemon blue was the first game i ever played on my first generation gameboy..but according to my uncle it was mario that really made the gameboy come alive, then sonic...

Pokemon was definately the driving force behind the game boy's sucess, sure it had other good games like zelda, mario, and metroid. but pokemon is what got people addicted to their handhelds, and then resold the same remade story with new pokemon every new portable generation lol

Me too, when I saw the first ad of gamboy, I thought it was a bad console with bad games but when learned that there was a game called pokemon blue/red for the gameboy, I asked my parents to buy a gameboy as a present with a pokemon blue game....

It makes it more famous, but it would still be very successful even without Pokemon.

Pokemon Gold and Silver MADE the GBC for what it was! and Red and Blue helped made the Game boy along with Tetris for the GB.

Yes I do but that isn't what's keeping people playing this great handheld because after a while it's getting a little boring and there are other great games out there!

of course, i mean, there is no other real rpg kind of games except for legend of zelda. i haven't heard about Dragon warrior series until recently. it's pretty good for a gbc game but still, pokemon rules gbc handheld and yes it makes gb famous.

I think it did, honestly. Heck, there was even a Special edition Gameboy color with pokemon all over it and it sold well! If it weren't for Pokemon, the Color wouldn't have done quite as well as it did.
