Pokemon was an ideal game for the gameboy, it has that pick up and play lite RPG feel. It is as much a part of Nintendo's history as Mario (or perhaps... near enough). But yes Pokemon did make the gameboy more than it would have been.

The Game Boy was famous long before Pokemon came around. I believe one of the big things that got it into the spotlight was Tetris, even. Metroid 2, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, and others helped, though.Pokemon may have kicked its popularity into overdrive, but there were plenty of other must-haves before Red, Green, and Blue even came out in Japan.

^ This is correct. Game Boy has been around since 1990, and it was plenty famous before Pokémon became all the rage. Obviously Pokémon helped boost Game Boy sales, but I'm sure Game Boy would have floated along just fine without it. My family had two or three before Pokémon even came out.what made the original gameboy famous was the original tetris

I kinda agree.If it weren't for Pokemon, I don't think the GBA would have been as well-known. One of the the first things that I think of when thinking about GBA is Pokemon.

Hmm well pokemon is one of the most saught after games for the gamboys, so im gonna say yes, it does make it famous.
