I like FF9 too. I'd say the worst one is FF8, its system was terrible.

I personally liked FF9 but I can see why it wasn't received very well. It must have seemed like a bit of a step backwards setting wise

It's not the least popular (I give that award to FF2 and FF5), but it sure isn't common. I personally couldn't get into it, but it's certaintly not bad.I actually like FF8 more then almost all the games throughout the series (award going to FFX and FFT): I loved the junction system, the summons were good without being overpowered, and story wasn't bad. The only thing I disliked were the characters: The only 3 I liked were Irvine, Zell, and Laguna. Seifer and Squall were OK but I couldn't care for them. The card game was no moster arena, but it's awesome IMO.

well, i know some ppl that thinks FF9 just merely Square answer/apology for criticism toward FF7 & FF8.on other mindset, some of FF7/8 fanbase, would think: why bother with FF9?therefore split popularity...

Well, I found it to be boring and uniteresting. It lost it's luster with me when I played it for a short while. I didn't get past the first disc. Not because it was hard, but I just didn't feel like playing it anymore. It bored me lol.

Don't compare FF5 to the other older FF games. FF4 and FF6 are quite awesome and interesting...FF5 is kind of a black sheep.Stevo

It may be. Although, a lot of people either loved or hated FFVIII.

FFIX is both my favorite FF game, and probably my favorite game ever (although, I haven't played it in a long time).

It wasn't a bad game. People were just expecting a title aimed at a more mature, since that's they way the series was heading.I like it, actually. It's just not a game that I'd list on my top 10, and definitely not the best FF.

Yup, the main problem with FF9 is the card game, I played it once, had no idea how to really play it. They really should have it removed.Currently near the end of disc two. I like how some insane fat person goes around blowing up towns. Reminded me of Kefka.

Most of the people I know hate FF9 just because the hero had a monkey tail... no other reason. It makes me sad.

It seems so... You see, people NEVER mention it... It's like no one even know about it... I only watched its intro, for example...

FF7 was the one that changed it all, from 2D to 3D and videos and limit breaks, FF9 looks like an FF7 rip-off although it had a better chocobo system and the tetra master card games. I'd say the least popular is final fantasy 1 as it is pathetic, but 9 is not as popular as 6 or 10.

I liked everything about Final Fantasy 9, the battle system was great, the music was great, and the storyline was great, although the characters were a little bit cartoon-ish, but nonetheless a good game.

Well those years ago when it came out and saw it in the store it did'nt catch my interest because of the character designs, so i bought ff8 instead (And plus i played my uncles demo copy which was awesome). FF7 was the first game i got for the ps1 and the first final fantasy game i ever played so that's why it remains one of my faves, ff8 is my second fave, ff10 is third, and final fantasy tattics after that. ff12 is the worst out of the series i believe, the battle system is crap and it puts me to sleep......and it's missing something that the earlier games had.

How is this about FFIX? noob...The reason Final Fantasy IX is not talked as much is because when it was release, everyone was waiting for FFX since it was coming out for PS2 and of course we can hear the characters speak. Personally, it might be the least popular because no one has tried it because of FFX and of course judging the book by its cover. FFIX did something that FFVII and the ones after that have not, follow its fallen roots. When Final Fantasy VII came out, it changed everything, and FFVIII is a good example how it changed. FFIX was a way to try and bring back the old traditions of Final Fantasy. The story is awesome, the characters are all unique and they all have their own personalities, the battle system is good, and the learning abilities from weapons was easy and simple. I had hoped that FFIX would have been more known since FFX was horrible for me and X-2 was just a downhill slope :/

Honestly I can't stand 8. The junction system was the worst idea ever.

Yeah same with me... that's the same feeling I feel towards the License thing in FFXII... I mean, who needs licenses to equip the right equipment? No, FF9 isn't the least popular...Never heard from FF3 or 4 that much, so they're out of the list... FFV wasn't much talked of, but it's great, but not as great as FFVI... FFVII beats FFVIII, for VIII didn't really have a grand success... FFIX was good, it was the farthest FF for PS1... FFII beats 1, because there are main characters, not like in 1, you make your own, but still good...
