I think Harry Potter is one of the most overrated stories of all time. It is neither particularly well written, original, or special. Except that it appeals to the masses, but being popular doesn't make something good. There is so much quality children's fantasy that will never get recognized because of this crap.

I've only gotten the chance to read the whole first book and only a little bit of the second book. I've seen the movies and it's pretty good. Too bad all the Harry Potter books ended already. I heard she's writing a prequel of some sort.

I don't really have an interest in Harry Potter, but I think that the books are well writen for they always appeal to the age group that which Harry belongs to... but as always film adaptation aren't as good becasue the directors view of the world is always different to your own, so what you think something should look like or be will be different in the film. That doesn't say they won't be good, but just not what you imagined it to be.

Why does Dumbledore being gay ruin the series for you?

well, I saw him as a father figure to Harry. him being gay kinda ruins that. and, it's supposed to be a children's book... anyway, I still enjoyed the series. :P

its honestly one of the best books out there with the plot twists nd the "leave you hanging" endings. ppl are going crazy over these books, me being one of them, to just know wat happens in the end nd how all these different things took place. if you think its dorky, thats too bad becuz the books are sickKkk!

i love the books and the movies allthough the games are incompetant and really are not worthy of the name

Dumbledore being gay doesn't make him any less of a father figure. As for Harry being a children's book, well, Dumbledore's sexuality isn't mentioned at all in the book, so I don't see him being gay as any kind of big deal.
