I used to think the movies were pretty good, but lost interest when everything was all different in the third one.

I think its an amazing series and fairly well written.I give J.K. Rowling props for being able to write this while she was a single middle aged mother.

One of my fondest memories ever was winning the first in line raffle when I was buying Book 7 at the midnight release, complete with my Gryffindor robe. I've been meaning to re-read sooner or later.

I used to love the series but now I have outgrown them. I think people overhyped them and everyone starting reading the books and watching the movies and everyone I know who were into the series have ditched it now.

The Harry Potter series was good until mid-way through the 5th book, then I just read the books for the sake of completing the series. But I absolutely abhor the movies if that makes any difference.

Let me first say that I am a writer myself, and an English major, so I look at the Harry Potter series as a writer would, not a reader.Personally, i think the first 6 books were amazing. I commend J.K. Rowling for establishing a love for reading in so many children, and adults, myself being one of them. Kudos, Mrs. Rowling. However, Just because I think highly of the first 6 books, DOES NOT mean I think so highly of the series as a whole. I believe that the 7th book, The Deathly Hallows, ruined the whole series, and here are my reasons:1) The plot can be summarized exceedingly esaily into a few small points. 1. Harry runs from Voldemort the first half of the book. 2. Harry discovers the legend of the Deathly Hallows. 3. Harry discovers that the invisibility cloak is a deathly hallow. 4. Harry dies. 5. Harry comes back to life with little to no explanation, tricks Voldemort, and then accidently, by almost complete chance, kills Voldemort. The End.2) It has very little depth and range such as the other books do. And most of the character development in the book has already been used before. How many times has Ronald abandoned Harry again?3) Ginny's not in Deathly Hallows. Perhaps one of the most developed and realistic characters (in my opinion) is almost completely vacant from the story, even though she holds one of the highest rolls in the series--Harry's future wife and the fourth member of The Trio. Two scenes is all she gets. Disgusting.4) The Epilogue. I'm going to try very hard not to cuss right here. What.... was that? Rowling answers NONE of the question that we have. Okay, maybe five. But five questions in the grand scheme? Any author who has to come back in an interview and explain what happened at the end of her book IS NOT DONE WRITING YET. I and the rest of the HP readers deserve an apology.5) Maybe this is just me, but seriously what is up with the names of Harry and Ginny's children???? Albus Severous??? Really now? Among others of course. This is ridiculous.6) YOU KILLED JUST ONE OF THE TWINS?!?!?!7) YOU KILLED BOTH REMUS AND TONKS?!?!?!8) Neville kills the snake? That's not even part of his character! Since when has Neville been able to take an aggressive stance towards Draco Malfoy, let alone the Darkest Wizard of the time, Lord Voldemort. Puhlease.*End Rant*Sorry...

I love Harry Potter *shining eyes*! My favourite book is the sixth, and my favourite characters are Luna, Hermione, Neville, Ron and Dumbledore. And Hagrid. Gosh, I'm a Harry Potter geek, really. I grew up with Harry, y'know? I don't know which house I'd be sorted into, though--I think I'm a Ravenclaw/Slytherin mix, perhaps with some Gryffindor qualities in there? Maybe that's just what I want to believe, because Gryffindor's the house of the good guys--but I do identify with Hermione to some extent. Yeah. ... Completely void of Hufflepuff qualities, though, hehehe.I agree with some points of the post before mine--Eshsha's post; but I really have got to disagree with the Neville thing. The seventh book could really have benefited from a larger dash of Neville, though! There were several characters I was missing in the seventh, Ginny included.

The books were excellent the first three movies were alright but everything beyond that was just far too cut down for my taste. I don't like movies that have to cut out every subplot from a book it just cheapens the material so much.
