I find myself usually preferring the classics, but I like the occasional 3D game.

I prefer 3D games if they are made good, just because they can be made so great and the looks also, ex. if anyone has played the newer kingdom hearts, final fantasies, etc.. Compared to the first pokemon games the graphics have gotten a lot better. But still classics always have that "little something" in them, with which they beat many 3D games, but if a 3D game is made good, there's nothing better.

Most of the problem with the new 3D games is that it just adds to a formula. Well many of the 2D games was sidescrollers and most of the 3D games are FPS. But there were more originallity(dont really know how it is spelt) before. Like the 2D shooter, platformer, Pacman, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Double Dragon and a lot more games

I think in today's world that games are more graphically based rather than story based, In my opinion don't get me wrong some of the new games are amazing Oblivion for example, but then if you look back on the Eyes of Beholder Series (if any one remembers them now) Or Walker on the commodore they were just classic games very stroy oriented aswell which is a bonus. I think a decent story line and structure in the game is more important that graphics.

you dont need good graphics to play a good game. 2d games were the best in playability or whatever its called (dont blame me, i am not english), and some of them were the most fun.games should be fun to play, not boring. just look at some games that were 2d and now they are 3d... they suck a lot and some of them are not even fun now.

u cant beat tha classics. itz that simple. video games were made to be fun and the old 2D are exactly that. nowadays u run into games where it getz so hard to a point that it frustrates u. u jest want to beat it to get it behind u. classics are the funnest games of all time hands down.

Thats a very good question 2d versus 3d is a hard one to answer because there are many in which you just cant pick Legend of Zelda was great in both 2d and 3d but then you have those few in which the 3d versions were mere shells of their former glory Megaman was AMAZING in 2d it was astonishing how many variations in the games story could be made by simply doing a boss before another or finding a secret pass and the action was always breathtaking you couldnt rest with some of the harder bosses but now with the newest addition on the playstation 2 i want to cry and how complicated they made it and just the way they took away its novelty. But enough of me griping if i had to cast a poll...id have to incline myself towards 2d Fire Emblem simply does it for me anyone who says that the game was not compelling or addicting is not a gamer.

Each side has it's pros and cons. That said, I play waaay more 3D games than 2D games, so it can be said that generally speaking I enjoy them more. But that doesn't mean there aren't 2D games I enjoy.

What about Chrono trigger? were does that fit? It is kinda 3-d but kind flat... I need to say both are realy good but that nothing can beat the classics. Nothing can beat Chrono trigger.

2d gave the opportunity for creative designers to advance video gaming to the next level. Therefore 2d > 3d literally
