Listening to some right now lol. In some cases, game music really isn't needed (like multiplayer games where concentration or just chatting is there).

Yes! It is important for atmosphere, gameplay, sometimes it's even part of the gameplay! Music is nearly as important as graphics to me XD

I agree with the game music being the most important aspect of the game 100%. The game music does create an atmosphere that sets the player into the mood of the game or dungeon. Like in zelda 4 swords adventure, the 4 Links will be walking around outside, and the classic music will be playing, putting the mood of the player into the mood of "saving the world." In the dungeons, you will feel the mood of danger that can be anywhere and you never know what's gonna pop out, because after all, Zelda games are always full of surprises and mysteries.

The music sets the mood, it would sort of ruin the game if in gears of war it sounded like teletubby music...

Definitely! Music adds the finishing touch to any game. Final Fantasy wouldn't be as good without the catchy tunes!

Music is a very important part to a game. It pulls you into the game when the right music is played at the right time.

Music is one of the things a game really needs, think about it, it's like watching a movie on mute, or listening to songs without words(well some are nice with words:P~) but my point is, if there is no music, there's no mood, if there's no mood, there's no fun^^~

Don't really care about the music myself, since I mostly have my own so I can set the mood.

It depends on the game.Although most games I like have pretty good music already (System Shock 2, Doom, FreeSpace 2, Half-Life 2...to name a few).Tribes 2 had good music, but looking at the first Tribes, it didn't really need music.
