music is very important, it adds to the experience of the game, it's just no fun if there's no music.

Game soundtracks are a very important factor to the success of a video game. Take the Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy series for example, it's true that the characters and plots played a very vital role for them to get critically acclaimed but the soundtrack made it all the more memorable to all gamers. I don't think I'd be able to take a game without a great soundtrack =/

Music is one of the most important elements of a game. If it has bad music, I'm not sure I can even play it.... at least not for long.

As long as it's not Bebe's kids or 1 song looping the entire game it's good. The soundtrack is important to a game if you're keeping the sound on! It creates the atmosphere, it creates your mood in-game. It can rile you up or calm you down depending on the situation . If you can hear a song and remind you of the game or scene,

Game Music is almost more important in some games then any pretty graphics. Think about any scary game, without the soft background music that subcontiously eats away at you the game wouldn't be very scary. Game music is epic.

To me, a game wouldn't be a game without its music. So long as the music isn't grating or doesn't fit the atmosphere the game's meaning to give, that is.

Yes, music is a very important aspect of the game especially the horror genre. In Horror games by using minor chord tonalities, the game writer can instill a sence of isolation and abandonment within the player. An example of this that I really enjoy is the sfx for saving in Deadly premonition. On a much lighter note video game music is very popular even to the point that it has become a sustainable industry. Chip-tunes are a very popular medium and provive music to more than just games

A game without music would be like reality, dull and boring. Music is what makes you want to continue playing or just lie down and listen to. It also helps those who don't know what is going on by creating an atmosphere of sorts.

Damn right it is!! The soundtrack of the game captures the emotions of the user as you continue to play the game as it also essential cause you can really feel the mood of the game.

I think it adds a lot to the atmosphere, like in chrono trigger as well as my favorite game, breath of fire 3. It is right under graphics in importance, though, I wouldn't play a game that looks like pokemon on lets say an actual console.

A good game doesn't have to have amazing music, but it really adds to the immersion the player feels. Creepy ambient music, triumphant cutscene scores, it adds tons to the game, but in the end its just a detail that is less important than gameplay, graphics etc.

Yes, music can set the atmosphere and mood of the games, as well as the story if there is one. I'd say music and sounds are almost as important as gameplay.
