Overall I feel that it is a pretty scary game, but not so much when compared to the others.

I have just been playing the game for the past 5 hours it is so awesome. the chainsaw guy at the very beginning is the hardest part i think, oh yeah has any one ever done the suplex in it?! i just did it today and i was laughing hysterically. But no its not scary it will catch you off gaurd when your not looking though

the first time you play it'll be suspensful and somewut scary after that its just finding new ways to have fun

RE4 isn't that scary.. except for one monster you encounter called "Regenerator".Hmm, if it had originally gone through with the Hookman concept, it would be alot scarier.

It is definately scary if you play alone in the dark in the middle of the night with a really big T.V. and the sound at full volume! I tried this, i would advise that no-one else emulates this.

when i played RE4 i just didn't think it was scary at all if fact i thought it was quite dull and didn't even bother to finish it by my girlfriend (who's a big fan of all RE games) got scared to holy hell due to the fact she played in the dark with the surround sound turned way up

That’s right Judau! I remember watching what RE 4 was SUPPOSED to be like. I remember telling myself that RE4 (the first version) would defiantly be a game I stayed away from, as I tend to dislike being scared. (I like to be in control, I guess you could say that when you get scared, you are not in control of your emotions, and I hate the thought of not being able to control myself)So when RE4 did come out, I gathered my wits, hooked up the ol' Game cube, turned all the lights in my room on, locked the windows and door. I hit the power button, clutched the controller. I remember watching the opening cut scene. I tried to take my mind off the horror I knew was coming by making fun of Leon and his boy band hair. After playing the game for a couple hours, I put the controller down and laughed. This game was scaring me before I even played it! And I felt accomplished, the game didn't scare me! I didn't loose control even once! I played through the game and only cowered in fear twice! The first time was the ever creepy regenerators! They seemed like they were laughing at me...creepy. And again, I know it's a little silly. But near the end you walk next to a refrigerator looking box. As you get near it, a Ganado bursts out on fire. That was defiantly a little scary. But even these two things are minor. The reason I personally find this game, not very scary is the game play. In the original RE games, you had bad aim, bad control, and a low survival rate. The ammo was sparse, and healing items rarely came, and when they did, they almost immediately ran out. Also, when you DIED, you had to restart last save point. Thanks to ammo being...around more. Healing items also being put around more and the fact that you had complete control of Leon and the gun made it very fun. The "zombies" of RE 1-3 wouldn't scare me at all if I had a pistol with a good couple shots and able to aim myself. All and all, this game is more fun than scary. Also, death is no problem, as you can just restart almost the same part you died! Making the game sort of easy. I admit, this game has a couple scary elements, but nothing too scary.

RE4 is not scary at all..but im a bit tense while playing especially the scene where u need to save ashley using a sniper rifle also LEON and Krauser's fight scene..one of the best part is when you're being backed up by a COPTER "YIIIIHAAAA!!!"

IF U NEVER PLAYED IT BEFORE IT EUD REALLY BE SCARY. BUT THE ONLY TIME WEN I WUD FREAK OUT IS WEN THE AREA IM IN BECOMES EXTREMLY SILENT AN IT BEGINS TO CREEP ME OUT

nope, it will only scare you if you just turn around your back and a enemy will suddenly appears and attack you! lol
