I had 2 ps2s that did the same thing. The only way it will do that is if you play it for to long,or drop it a couple times. There are 2 ways to fix it,trade it in or buy another one.

yeah that happens to me most of the time.its the big fat one.i think its because i played the copy copy cds.(not the regular copy ones.I had dbz budokai copy copy.it took so much time to load about 15 minutes just to load one level.but the copy one(withe the picture on it)functioned great.I think when you run the copy copy ones it damages the laser thing inside the ps2.nut now i have stopped playing the ps2.I am noww playing pc and emulated gba and nds games.

I only have Disc Read Errors with blue-bottom disks, although I had some inexplicable problems playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and Onimusha 3. I think those were due to the disks and not the games themselves, though.

Happened to my very first PS2.. It may have just been dirty or the disc could've been damaged, but I decided to get a new one anyways.

I have an old style PS2 and it only has the disc read error every once and a while when I put in my Action Replay MAX (its a blue-bottom disc). All other blue-bottom discs seem to work fine, otherwise

I had that problem for a while on my fat ps2 i just cleaned the dust I hd by the color fan and cleaned some of the dust on my disk tray. If that doesnt work than your diskreader might be scratched in that cause you need a new ps2 :D

Never had that problem, though I'm a pretty new owner of a PS2. I remember that issue being big with the older fat PS2s.

I have a big PS2.I got it when PS2 was first released. It's been through hell and back.It makes funny noises sometimes and give me the "Disc Read Error" sometimes. It still works fine tho, and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.

Im on my third ps2 cause of that stupid error. now, i just take the machine apart, and use compressed air to clean out all of the dust. after that it worked just fine, just remember to clean the laser off too
