every1 plays video games but you dont have to talk bout em at skool. some people even bring guidebooks to skool and read them. that is pretty stupid. i play video games when im bored. there fun but i dont live and die by them. at skool people who reserved halo 2 and they still stayed up till midnight to go get it. i think thats dumb!!! go out and do sumin!!!

A carnival performer whose show consists of bizarre acts, such as biting the head off a live chicken. So really a "gamer" is really neither of these. I believe the only reason people are called these names are to give other people a feeling of social dominance. But I also believe that the need to do so is a weakness in itself. These people (often referred to as "bullies") are only this way because of a past trauma often things such as sexual abuse. I mean what does calling people names really do? I think that people who are called names should let their anger build up inside them and keep a record of the people who made your life just that little more miserable. Then when their old enough release their anger in a wholesome way like: go to Germany and hire some of the hit man from the mafia and end their lives. After all they will probably wont amount to anything, people like that almost never do.

People who call gamers nerds are really people who don't understand them and just want to be cool so they pick on people. Also it's usually these people who call gamers nerds who don't amount to much. These cases occur in school most of the time as people think people who are pretty or muscular or have loads of cool things like cars are cool and people who play games are nerds. Yet these nerds made most of the things we have, like Ragnoarok online, it was created by a person who loves games other inventions that have a lot of complex understanding like building robotic programs. These so called nerds are what we rely on for this. True it is stupid to spend all your time playing games but sometimes games can be really helpful like there are simulators that pilots of planes use to be able to learn how to deal with different situaions and learn how to fly. These are games but are they nerds? No, these people are pilots. So really gamers are not nerds or anything they are just people who are picked on, or misunderstood and if we could be more friendly to every type of person and they are kind back we would have more peace in our lives.

People think that nerds are synonomous with anything relating to computers (or technology per se). Bill Gates is considered a "nerd" (which might be an apt label but that is beside the point). Gamers are gamers and everyone now-a-days plays video games. Jocks may not paly role-playing games but I am sure they love a good game of Madden or NHL. Even the ladies have games to play (I know for a fact that many enjoy racing games...), because the industry is targeting the vast population. Now the few, the proud, the Nerds should not be worried that their title is being worn improperly the misconception comes when we begin to facilitate the social standards of what a nerd is:Does a nerd play Magic the Gathering?Does a nerd watch the Lord of Rings?Does a nerd play D&D?Does a nerd not play sports? Well the truth is all folks could be considered a nerd at one time in their life. We are all things to all people it is just how people choose to view you...are you a label or are you just another gamer, dreamer, human being.

People playing games is just about preference and it can be same as people doing sports. The thing that differs them from the normal ones is their strong connection to that preference/hobbies/whatever. So can you say a dedicated sportsman is nerd/geeks? No, It's just in your head (and it's shaped by your environment), remove that prejudice and maybe you'll see that you also share what they do but just not with the same thing/topic/whatever

Hell. I am a nerd/geek. I admit it. The RP club at my school has nearly changed their name to the Saddos and Geeks society. I feel that people should have a hobby, and if they are very dedicated, people shouldn't butt in.

I wouldnt say gamers were branded nerds. In the UK gaming is massive, evry1 owns a PS1 or Xbox or similar. But to be fair, if gaming is all u do then by definition u are a nerd

It's just a stereo-type that they use on us. They expect us to either study or play video games, and thus, removing any chances for us to have a social life.
