I'm a massive gamer, and i'm not a nerd? I think people classify others as nerds or geeks when they slip into games so much that they are constantly talking about them, constantly thinking about them, etc.. I mean, theres this guy at my school who reads books based off video games when it's 'Silent reading period' and talks about them whenever he can, and he'd rather play video games than anything else..get what i'm saying? People can love video games, but they can love them to much? does that make sense?

Hey, who cares if anyone calls us nerds? Being a nerd also means that we're smart, and being smart (contrary to what the "cool" people say) is a good thing.Besides, in the end, when it all matters who is going to be on top? Us or them? So far, from what I see (Grad school) it's us. :-)Don't let them get you down!

Gaming is not a "nerdish" pastime anyway! everyone does it now - and I can quote at least one famous rap star (I wont name him) sayin in one of his songs: "Now Im just kickin back playing on some PS2" - and if anyone called him a nerd he would prolly bust a cap in their donkey!!!! dude, I've been a gamer since I could hold a controller...being a gamer doesn't = being a nerd. Just so happens that a lot of nerds don't build the social skills to have friends or to not be rejects, hence they place video games and become gamers. Main reason you're a reject is because you consider yourself to be a reject. Put the controller down every now and then and hang out with people, even if it's playing video games with them.

I think I can answer that. I don't like to say it, but people seem to think giving your thumbs an exercise while staring at a glowing screen all day is a waste of time. Now I am a big time gamer, but sometimes there are better things to do than to play games all day. And I also agree with goy, gamers aren't nerds, excessive gamers are. If you play every now and then you can still have a regular social life and all. To close, I'd like to say use moderation in all things. *please excuse this wordy response*

nerds? i think gamers have been movin' further and further away from that stereotype since the early days of gamings when it was dominated by those who were more technologically saavy...which often times, were those who were classified as nerds. but nowadays, video games are much more main stream. video games are drawing in a much broader audience than the earlier days, and is a multi-million, if not billion, dollar industry. hardly anything nerdy about that. perhaps in some backwater town it may still be considered "nerdy"...but like many who have posted before me, who cares!....find a game and enjoy it. no sense in letting what others think inhibit you from doing an activity you love, that goes for nearly everything. i think most older gamers will agree with me, its good to find a game that'll get you "hooked"...usually is nostalgic and reminds us of the younger days when games on "simple" system like atari 2600 or commodore 64 devoured many of our waking hours....in some cases, our sleeping ones as well. i grabbed a hold of a copy of MGS3...and loving it. so, for this holiday season, plaster your eyes to your tube/plasma/projection/ screen and just play.

Well... do you do anything else but game? I think gamers are cool. I think that the gamers that are called nerds are called that by ignorant people or they do nothing else in their entire life. I guess some people think smart people play video games or something...

umm... i dont know about being a nerd but im pretty popular at school-even though im in the most advanced math class and even whenmy games for ps2 and xbox games pile up like hell no one call me a nerdim not a bully or anything but no one dares kick my donkey or kalls me sh*t

I'm a gamer, love anime, and my friends all know it. I might get made fun of, but I also play sports, have a pretty good band, and have an okay social life. I think most gamers let their love of games rule their lives, so they end up weird and obsessive...and very, very horny.
