Well, not all gamers are labeled "nerds". I pride myself on being a hardcore gamer. None of my friends are gamers. I play a whole crapload of sports at my school, and I'm even on winter Homecoming court. So, basically, you're only labeled a "nerd" if you're a gamer that doesn't do anything other than play games.
Why are gamers called nerds?

I'm a gamer, I don't have any problem but some "friends" though that is not fun to play video games. They're just a bunch of idiots.

Well, I'm a gamer and I have not any problem, in the school I'm the best of my class, and I'm the only there that has a NES
I don't rate the games by their awesome media, I rate them by their gameplay and fun.

Well the only things that I get the weird look from people is when I play on a GBA in the public. As it somehow symbolises child in their minds. As for the rest it all seems fine with everybody.

I agree with everyone , we gamers aint nerds . Nerds are people who study a LOT and never plays games . COncentrating on studies 100% . They wear real thick glasses and wear banana strapee pants REAL HELL HIGH and combs their hair centre-parting and drinks a cup of tea .

We're all gamers and no one's a nerd. So, we don't have a problem with being called nerds, since nobody does that (at least where I'm from).

Does it really matter what other people think of you? Video games are becoming more and more mainstream, so maybe there's more to it than just that. Expand your horizons. There's a whole world out there.

WELLas a cool person with only one friend that plays games, the reason why other ppl dont like gamers is because1) Loser quality. Gamers are usually socially aquward and dont know how to have fun2) Looks. Not many gamers exercise, work out, eat healthy, or know how to dress. They usually arent stylish.3) other beliefs and intests. Gamers/losers like japanese cartoons, comic books, toys, ect. and other things that arent usually related to being coolHOPE THAT HELPS!! :-)

Gamers can be annoying if they only play computer or video games, especially if they have no social skills. Most non-gamers are simply not interested in spending long hours staring at a screen, so non-gamers who are pricks probably find gamers an easy target for ridicule.Gamers don't help themselves any if they are reclusive or emo, that's just asking for people to pick on you. In my experience, no matter how wrong the jerks are, no matter how many rude names they call you, the best way to deal with it is to spend a little more time being sociable and a little less by yourself.But hey, whatever works for you.
