the cd-drive refuses to stay shut. you have to manually close it about 10 times before it will finally stay shut and read the disc.

Yes, my original white xbox360 got the red lights of death a few months back. I just went out and got an Elite and send my broken one to get fixed. I currently have my original one still boxed after coming back from being repaired, on standby incase (touch wood) my Elite decides to die on me! :P The golden rule for the hardcore gamer.....Always have an Xbox360 on standby! :P

Technically not mine, but my friend's X360. Runs like a dream, never an issue with it (save the controllers, but he got a new one). Then again, he bought the Japanese X360.I don't mean to diss the PS3, but another friend of mine got it, the Blu-Ray reader died after we played one (ONE!) game of Dynasty Warriors Gundam. :P

i've basically had mine been running 24/7 and it's still in mint conditiontiny problem with the controllers though as has probably been stated; controllers are always the first things to break

I had a few teething problems with my 360 it just died one day, then when I went to play it again just for one last try it started working and I havent had a problem since.I know youre gonna have problems somewhere when something new comes out but the Xbox 360 is way better at actually working than the PS3 is.-blue.

the cd-drive refuses to stay shut. you have to manually close it about 10 times before it will finally stay shut and read the disc.

Oh, and this problem is probably because you are 'manually' closing it. Forcing a drive to close will almost always end up in it being broken.... :P -blue.

I had a power brown out while playing. All four lights flashed red till I unplugged the console. After the storm had passed I plugged it back in. Since then it has been mostly fine. I have had a couple of lock ups but all were fixed by cycling the power so I think it was more the game than the console itself.

I had some close calls with my xbox.....it occasionally likes to scare me with the red rings(flashing not the stale lights).......but it still works.

Yup, we sent it in and it ended up costing roughly $150. But then they refunded the money because they were doing it for free (Or something like that) >_>).
