ive always been to afraid to get it chipped, ive heard it does bad things to the console itself?

Yes. mine got chipped in the top corner next to the CD holder.

No!I heard about this years ago about a year and a half after PS2 came out. I never thought it was done or anything like that. Lol I guess now and days anyone can get a chip in something :PI heard about the chip word of mouth and on the internet if anyone wanted to know but that was years ago.I guess the PS3 will be chipped in no time if it isn't already chipped (secretly).

I actually really want to get my PS2 chip. It's something I have been meaning to do but keep forgetting to do. I voted no, but I love the idea of being able to play imported games.

Nope, mine isn't chipped...I just buy original games...I think it's more fun that way...

Mine is,"Inside" the cd place.....Though,My Mega Man X8 copy the Brothers in arms copy got busted.

Mine was chipped the moment I bought it, but had to change the chip again just to play God of War (DVD9 different format), Emulators, and other misc. games

I absolutely refuse to Chip my PS2. I just love it too much. I think that Sony made an awesome system with the Playstation 2 and I see no reason why I shouldn't support their efforts. Plus, the games are definately what makes the PS2 such a great system, because lets face it. Without the games, the PS2 (hardware-wise) is really subpar compared to the Gamecube or Xbox. Thus, if the games are so great, I should be willing to support the companies that make said games so they'll make more. It's also just so much cooler to actually own the game.
