i would prefer to have it translated, i dont care much for voice acting(its usually decent to me)but if the games go only subtitled, ill be fine by that too...

I like subtitled better because you can feel the originality and hearing voice overs are a lil' weird. :)

I think it seems better in Japanese; just knowing what the words mean is okay for me.

the best option is for the game have a language menu under its options menu. personally i perfer dubbed even thoght most expert seem to subtiles better but i don't want to miss a key part of the store because a subtitled when away before i finshed reading it out some call my adtenion away will dubbing hear all the information in a language i understand even if not looking at the screen. and another pro for dubbing is the companies with hopeful rewite the dialog (you may asking why it that a good thing) to better your own countries culture's mannerisms. unless you fully understand the the culture of the games creators the will a few moment the game will seem weird. how ever the is one tine i will always want subtitles. Kung Fu Hustle because one of joke is that a chacater says like in english instead the native language and nothing understands him while in the dubbed version the whole screen is in english and joke makes no sence

Games, strictly? I'd prefer them in English due to the depth of story. I don't have the best understanding of Japanese, despite five years of study.

there are a lot of patches and such being developed constantly by fans and programmers. GBAtemp has a good library of translations. Still every game requires a lot of dedication and hardwork, so unless the game becomes mainstream, or already has a large fan base; I doub't they'll be translated, which is a shame.

Absolutely subbed. That way you get the original as intended and still understand...or you could learn Japanese:)

Hmmm, Japanese DS games with voice overs. It would be like the Kung Fu movies of the 70's, with the mouth moving one way and the voice saying something else. Didn't really like it then, probably wouldn't like it now, but a game like Pokemon Platinum, I don't think I would be as far as I am without the English portions I have from the English patch. I think I might play some of the Japanese titles if I could get an English translation. But because I don't understand or can't read Japanese, I miss out on those games. XD

I would want Japanese games to be subtitled so I could still hear it in Japanese. Japanese voices are better than Americans one any day.

For my money, it's subtitles all the way, 'cause I'm a fast reader and I get a little bored waiting for the voices to finish :geek: plus, I don't hear too well.

I prefer subtitles, though dubs can be hilarious at times.

Subtitles are better because the Japanese language actually sounds pretty neat. Dubs never work out well, and they don't match the characters at all.

I'll say sub. Cause the translators sometimes tend to screw up something about the speech and we get two different things at the end. So I won't take a risk. Just give me subtitles.

I am using Japanese games to help learn Japanese. LOL. I may end up sounding like Doeraman.Actually the voices in the adult games from Japan are very good but they speak so fast I have to listento it several times to be able to catch it all. I guess my preference is for Japanese in Japanese. If I want something dubbed I can go to a Disney release of a Ghibli film.
