Pokemon Diamond didn't give me the thrill I experienced from Silver...but nonetheless, it was a good game.

Pokemon is like raw broccoli, it keeps coming back up, but some people just keep eating it (not the same raw brocoli)... That metaphor aside, Diamond and Pearl reminded me of Gold and Silver, with the sheer size, returning features (consequently the annoyance of walking through specific places at night, previously long routes, now it's them damn fog patches). The gym leaders are considerably tougher than they were in R/S/E (not saying much, aside from Liz and Tate in Emerald, who were so over powered that my four Lvl 55s; Swampert, Gardevoir, Raichu and Shiftry could take them down). We had a better alround enemy team, accompanied by a plotline that was definitely better than the previous versions (R/B/Y had no real plotline outside of your journey; team rocket just did random acts of evil for money, G/S/C's plotline was the same, only edit team rocket slightly to have more purpose, R/S/E's plotline sucked, like much of the rest of it {emerald's other bits sucked less, but it still sucked}... seriously, admit it, the enemy teams felt stupid, how the hell did Archie and Maxie get their teams so big? Who'd actually listen to what those maniacs were saying?)

I agree that it never really left. Sure, some people lost interest but it all comes back when something new is added to the franchise like Diamond and Pearl. I haven't played either yet but I've played the others. I think the games that thrilled me the most were Gold and Crystal, honestly. I didn't feel the same with the following games and I doubt Diamond and Pearl will be as exceptional but nonetheless, the games are always good and seem to bring back interest each time.

To me it has gone away, sure the games are fun, but there are so many of them, and the series are seriously repeating itself. On their way to the gym, meet person, big story, get attacked by team rocket, beat them, become friends with newly met person, end.So yeah, pokémon's not coming back for me.And yet I continue to buy all the pokémon games...

it is true, the new games are a bit more interesting, with more and better storyline, not to mention the 3D graphics, but the era of pokemon is definitely over and it is slowly falling to the bottom. This fall can last long, but definitely not longer than 5 years. In that time, pokemon will be only a memory of the nice spring hours lying in the shade and playing the game for the very first time.IT IS THE END!

Neh, i honestly don't think it ever left. It just sorta went downhill. And once they remake Gold and Silver, it will most likely get super strong for a short while again. Best games ever right there in my opinion. The music was just blow your mind awesome.

To me, pokemon never left. I just got out of it for a few years, but good friends reeled me back into the pokemon world.
