i decided to start playing on mine again lately becos i got bored playin on my 360 so i decided to go back to some good old games

i'm still playin' ps2 because i think there has a LOT of great games like RE4,FFXII,Fatal Frame, Prince of Persia,God of War, and specially DMC!!

Playstation 2 will eventually fade away like all the other old systems..... but until PS3 lowers in price a little PS2 will slowly fade out. The PS2 games, however, will be around for a long time due to their compatibility with PS3, and the sheer number of PS2 games that were produced throughout the years.

The PS2 is far from dead. Especially the games.With well over 1,000 titles released, how can you really just let something like that go? I sold my Xbox 360 to get a PS2 again just because, well...I like PS2 games better. The US library is great, and then the Japanese library...don't even get me started. There's so many games I want to import, it's crazy. And there's many other people in my mindset...so this isn't a dead system. Also, Persona 4 is coming out on December 9th for the PS2 in the US. It'll probably be one of, if not the last big release for the PS2, but that's proof that it's still going.

considering the ps3 has backwards compatibility, i don't see the point of hanging onto the ps2 anymore.

The PS3 is just too expensive for some of the people out there. Also, the 60GB, and the 20GB are the only units with full compatibility, or at least the units with the best compatibility; the others just can't play it as well, or just can't play them. Sadly, both the 20GB and 60 GB are out of production. On that note, apparently Sony is going to take away the backwards compatibility of the 80GB in September 2008, which leaves us withconsidering the ps3 has backwards compatibility, i don't see the point of hanging onto the ps2 anymore.

The second article states that the new 80GB will replace the current 40GB models.Now I can't seem to find any 80GB version of the PS3 (hoping for the 60GB is too much), except for the one included in the limited Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle. If that will be the only 80GB during these next 1-2 months, then I'd better get one quick.EDIT: The 20GB production has definitely stopped.

I think Ps2 still is alive, in fact there are still PS2 games coming out in Japan that I want. I do want a PS3, cause I heard it's region-free, cause those imports I want will never come over. But, PS3 is so high, I just can't afford it with my budget. I have a US PS2 & an Japanese PS2, and I guess I'll still have them until PS3 is cheaper, which won't be for a long long time.

I don't think the PS2 is dead yet. Altho I gotta admit, the PS3 games are really making me drool... However, there are some very nice games that you can still play in PS2... Wish my SRW OGS is working, if it does I'd not really bother saving for PS3 hahaha..

There isn't that many great games that's out for the ps3 so I still buy ps2 games.

I think that ps3 doesnt sell well enough yet for the ps2 to die off. I figure because the ps2 still has games made for it, it will take a while before it disappears.

PS2 is slowly getting its life choked out by the PS3, but will completely get killed once the price for PS3 drops in the 200 range
