He can be destroyed in 7~8 hits with the Shadow Blade. If you dont have that, Needle Cannon and Hard knuckle works ok. And if desperate, use the arm blaster after you trap him in the rightmost pit. Stay in the leftmost pit and keep blasting him - He won't (or cant) jump out. (tested)

You can pretty much kill them with the reglular blaster cannon. The small snake robots take a mere 2 hits from the blaster, while the big one takes 10.
