English Dubs, why?1/I dont like to read while i watch2/My Ears like to understand what they here3/I speak English4/i dont speak Japanese5/ It Fun to see how the dubs mess up the amines from the original form. These are main reasons why i like to watch it in dub, i only watch sub if it will never, ever, ever come out in the U.S in a a billion years Im still waiting for Beat the Vandel Buster and HUNTER X HUNTER

I prefer Japanese with English dubs, mainly because when it's dubbed in English, the amount of words you have to speak in the same time frame is limited.....so that results in a faulty/incomplete translation of the Japanese writer's intention of what the character's suppsoed to say....Whereas with subtitles, it's not so much of a 'lost in translation' type of thing....I'm a sucker for original stuff P:

Japanese voices are usually better. I think some dubs are good. Cowboy Bebop had a good dub

The acting always sucks on english dubs. The same 4 actors seem to do everything.

I prefer Japanese with English subs; the Japanese voice actors seem to fit the characters and story better. However, I must admit, some English dubs aren't too bad.

Definitely Japanese dubs with English subs.(1) I can learn more Japanese(2) English dubbing is horrible (Naruto's horrible, but FullMetal Alchemist was ok-ish)(3) Hearing the speech in Japanese gives off a better atmosphere =)

The american voices just mess it up, they don't have the right pitch that the Japanese voices have.

I selected Japanese with the overdubbing. I say this because I really like the Japanese language, and some of the English overdubbing can be a bit on the ridiculous side.

It's true, English dub is not the best in the world, some people prefer the subs because it keeps the originality, however, things must be made to fit everyone's needs, not just those of a few people, sadly, the debate will always exist.Personally, there are some dubs I liked, others not so much, but there are some subs that aren't well translated, same for the dubs, if I knew Japanese I would have no problem with either. In other words, I like dubs and subs, but not all of them, if I can't find a dubbed version of an anime or game, then I'll have to find another way.

Dub vs Sub really does vary upon anime and production team. In general Subs win out Dubs just because Dub VA's can't act and don't put any effort in or the script is just horrible. There are, however, certain exceptions.I was re-watching a Dragon ball Dub with Subs and I was both shocked and impressed. The Dub is just so much better. Although the sub is obviously the more accurate translation, the changes to the Dub actually DEFINE the characters and gives each and everyone of them their own personality. The Sub takes itself too seriously while the dub makes the show lighthearted and more fun. That there is an AMAZING and exemplary job in my opinion. So, like I said, Dub VS Sub depends on the effort put in, but, given that it is virtually impossible to create a subtitle for all of Japanese culture, Dubs have the potential to resonate so much deeper with us.

Well, everyone knows that most of the animes are best left alone in japanese voices rather than english voices... Apparently, I only like the dub in Beck since the japanese voice there sucked in singing english songs...

English to me sounds over done, if that makes sense. They try to make it 'too real', and it does not work too well for them. I personally have always preferred the RAW Japanese versions, because the subtitles get annoying and I do not need them. So, I like the original Japanese voices. That is how it is meant to be in my opinion.

I hate when the main character voice in dubs is nothing like the Japanese one, And is really annoying (IE. One Piece.) Make me want to shoot myself.

I think it just depends on how the voices sound and if they fit the character... I mean, I have seen a few animes in Japanese, and the voices were horrible... and Visa-versa

Really, it depends on the show and recording company (*coughcough4Kidscough*).Personally, I think the English dub of Dragonball overrules the Japanese dub merely because the voices actually fit more in English.

I have to go with the Dubs, I just like to actually WATCH the anime instead of having to sit and read the text to know whats going on <3It could just be me, but I say it's better. I honestly don't think the english voices on most animes are bad :schmoll: Atleast for the ones I've watched, DBZ, Ouran Host Club, FLCL... the list can go on. Alot of people complain about the voices... but, eh. Different tastes, I guess?

I'm kind of a purist when it comes to what I watch, I care about the original story and since most anime series are set in Japan, the script in itself riddled with cultural contexts, it's obvious that dubbing it would change its essence, like the story will have to be "westernized". for example, the use of honorifics. addressing older siblings. food. so many reasons to learn Japanese, too!
