a very long running manga is Hajime no Ippo, it has almost 800 chapters. But the longest running manga with 157 volumes (and continuing) is Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo from Shonen Jump.

I think Bleach, Naruto, One Piece or Dragonball (not listed) are really long. If someone decides to start collecting all of them, they'd be pretty poor by now

Detective Conan, hands-down. It's already at around volume 50-somthing, with about 630 chapters. Even Naruto and One Piece don't have that many yet.

I'd say Naruto and Prince of tennis...while Doreamon has already ended>.<Initial D is also rather long...and bleach has the potential to reach Naruto...

DragonBall is the only long one I know of, oh, and Naruto and One Piece, even though they aren't finished.

Hajime No Ippo, if I'm not mistaken, has the most chapters in the series.Gundam is more of a general topic; all the different Gundam Series break off and have characters completely independant of the other gundam series. I don't really consider that one anime/manga. All the dragonball series are connected, however, the Gundam ones only share the same concept of the world.

From what I know, Naruto is currently the longest running series both manga and anime reaching more than 400 chapters AND episodes. It's even running longer than CASED CLOSED. =));; though I think Pokemon is also one of those longest running series, but I have a problem with Ash not being able to look older. :|

Konan, Naruto, and Inuyasha are probably the longest running manga series. I'm not sure, but I think they are. Oh, and definitely Doraemon, too. I love Doraemon and Konan though. Konan used to scare me as a child though, watching some of the more gruesome episodes in Japan.. :)
