Graphics, graphics, graphics? What about the Wii?Besides, I can't stand old games, makes my eyes hurt.

Too bad most wii games are shallow and boring. I want something epic and classic maybe like hmmmmmm....... i dont know white knight or maybe ff13.

-shrugs-It might be because if you were playing the old school games in the first place, you're older than the generations now.The generations now aren't the same as the older generations. =]I'd read an article about kids today having issues with getting the main idea out of stuff. I don't have that problem, since I read like a maniac, but I think that's because kids have shorter attention spans.'Oooh! SHINY!' and Beating your game system/controler when you lose are common things. I mean, just look at my little brother. His DS sits in two seperate pieces now, lol.Games are more simple for kids today, though they might be more technologically savvy, their mental skills are sometimes lacking.

I belive they're running out of idea's, For example fighting games can only go on so long, you cant keep making moves and weps etc, same with mmorpgs, but no one has mastered that because the production value would be intensereally they're getting worse because it seems the only system focusing on gameplay is WiiXbox360 is focusing on graphic, and PS3 for the dvd player thats about it rly, PS3 sucks, and dont flaim me going OMG U SA THAT BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE ONE, i have all 3 systems. and thats really all i use it for is DVD's

personally i think console gaming was at it's best during the snes era. with a few exceptions i never made the transition into next gen gaming. that is why i am really into game boy advance games. it's like living the 2d snes glory days all over again!

I don't think that video games are getting worse and worse I think they're just running out of viable options to base stories and gameplay upon. Basically I think people and companies that make games have problems regarding all the various organisations opposed to gaming, I bet that many companies such as Square Enix, EA have really good ideas, racey and controversial and cannot put these games into being because of The Church or some crazy mothers association. Basically if you were to line up all games you'd find striking resemblences between all of them which shouldn't really be, you should have many games boasting uniquities. At the moment the market is littered with World War based games, sooner or later gamers are going to get bored of those. Back then ideas were fresh and they didn't have all the powerful hardware they have today so they focused more on the story and gameplay, that's why the old-skool games are revered so much more that those that are on the market today. I think developers that have been around for a while should take a step back and look at what made they're older, classic games good and build upon that.

Ever watched the Decline of Video Gaming 1? It's a humourous parody on video gaming, but it has quite a deeper meaning to it. It's relatively old, 2004-ish.http://www.ugoplayer...ideogaming.htmlAnyways, newer games aren't getting any different. Older games wanted to look realistic. When we finally could, they took it too far.And wii, though concentrating on gameplay, seriously needs some better games.

They're getting too short.I miss 4-disk sets like FF8, now FF is one disk and about a week's worth of work.

Well I don't think that newer games are getting worse. In my opinnion their main problem is that you never get something new.If you're playing an RPG most of the time its that booring old story of light vs. dark, wich is too cliche to be funny. So then you have shooters.Lots of WW2 shooters.Great.we should rather be happy that this war is over but no we have to play WW2 games.Same story in the strategy genre-you're just playing some *realistic*(yeah dorced realism is a big problem) Batlles like the Omaha beach(again)orcommand some knights in medievil time. And those games wich are Sci-Fi based tend to have poor balancing. Then we have sports simulation-the only genre in wich realistic physics/graphics really make the game better-I can only describe with one word:booring!Well to make the rest short:Classic games still are good(or else they wouldn't be classics)but if someone would finally decide that it's time for something newnewer games *could* be awesome, too.

what a bunch of crap, i had all 3 then i got rid of the wii, not to make people angry but it was partly due to graphics it sucked and not only that the market was being fludded with junky wii games. you thought that since it used it a remote that was gameplay i bet. gameplay is inside the disc, how things move in the game, prime example: red steel (sucked) the aim was off and the sword sucked too so what if the wiimote was used to move it it sucked, the great zelda game they paraded around it was the xact same thing on the older system. the only difference was the wiimote, the wii would fall apart if it wasnt a little kids cheap console, (thats why is sells so much)also talking about revision how many times are they going to remake mario for you? or make up another mario if you think that nintendo focused on gameplay your wrong they focused on gimmick, after playing the wii for a month i got tired of all the stupid flailing of the arms. it gets old fast. xbox360 is good and so is the ps3 you guys are nostolgic, there are a lot of crappy games out there but the same can be said for many systems remember the ET disaster companies make money off you that is thier goal no matter what age it happened and they will shovel thier game at you and hope you bite. Companies figure out you dont like that and spend time to make a good game once in awhile. But all you have to do is stay informed and remember not to just buy a ton of games but pick and chose play demos wait for it to actually come out and look at the gameplay videos ask someone you know in real life who has the same tastes. thats all you have to do. But if your stuck in the past i would play final fantasy 7 i play that every so often as well as mario 64 but most of the time i want to play Gears of War and Resistance Fall of ManEdit: owning all 3 systems doesnt make your opinion more true or mean you cant be critisized for saying opinionated statements with nothing to back them up, example: "ps3 sucks" also you made me have to respond to you for the fact that you had to say that "ps3 sucks" in a topic that was only about the deterioration of game quality not anything to do with the consoles they are played on. Following that statement i at least understand that my opinion of the wii may differ from others your entitled to your opinion as well but at least compose it with a few facts unlike panda here

Whenever I find myself in front of the TV screen playing a videogame, it's always a classic like a PS One game. I personally believe that videogames are continuously going downhill. Why? Because all people care about nowadays are graphics. Graphics, graphics, graphics. They don't care about gameplay anymore. Gameplay has gotten slower and slower since the old days. Don't believe me? Play a PS2 game or few, then go back and play a PS One or N64 game. You'll see how much incredibly faster the old games are. Back in the day, game creators cared about how beautiful their games looked. They would give us a gorgeous nature background to look at while we're playing. But now, all anyone cares about is how real it looks. If it's in a gloomy, run-down sewer with no colorfulness, it doesn't matter as long as it looks real. And it seems like every new game I've played has that kind of environment. This is a little biased sinced I'm a very old-school type person. But, I just find older videogames to be much better that anything new.

Your right. I was playing God of War and it was great, lots of fun but I would of rather been playing Zelda and not even Zelda on a newer system but I mean Zelda on SNES... I mean back in the day you had secrets to find and complex puzzles, things that kept your brain really going. These new games are so set on blood, gore, realism that they even give you instructions throughout games for you to play them. In God of War they would tell me what buttons to push them and how ----- I was blown back by this ANYONE should be able to play a game without pop up instructions thats just ridiculous.

I think that since 3-d games have been around so long they have lost their appeal, Halo 2 did not impress me

I don't think I can judge how good a game is from how fast it goes to finish it, in my opinion games are getting better. Even though most of them don't tickle my fancy like the "old" GBC / GBA games, some DS games are really really good. To be kind to my Wii, I couldn't imagen being without you either since you have loads of games too and are relatively new to the console market :(

About the newest game I've enjoyed was CoD:MWF 2. The multiplayer is fun, and my room-mates and I can all enjoy a round our two before work. Other than that, I've also enjoyed BioShock 2, Borderlands, and a few others. So I guess I disagree.

Classic games are classic for the simple reason that the only thing developing with time is graphics. I am of the opinion that graphics do not form this integral role in the quality of games that most people think it does. A game can have pathetic graphics and an excellent, vivid storyline with responsive gameplay and it will far outshine anything these modern day Commercial developers could ever dream of. In my books anyway
