its true after the third sequel it just sucks like paper mario oldschool games are just amazing and its true that everyone just wants graphicsWhenever I find myself in front of the TV screen playing a videogame, it's always a classic like a PS One game. I personally believe that videogames are continuously going downhill. Why? Because all people care about nowadays are graphics. Graphics, graphics, graphics. They don't care about gameplay anymore. Gameplay has gotten slower and slower since the old days. Don't believe me? Play a PS2 game or few, then go back and play a PS One or N64 game. You'll see how much incredibly faster the old games are. Back in the day, game creators cared about how beautiful their games looked. They would give us a gorgeous nature background to look at while we're playing. But now, all anyone cares about is how real it looks. If it's in a gloomy, run-down sewer with no colorfulness, it doesn't matter as long as it looks real. And it seems like every new game I've played has that kind of environment. This is a little biased sinced I'm a very old-school type person. But, I just find older videogames to be much better that anything new.

For the most part, I agree with you. Especially on the nostalgia part. For instance, I think most people pretend to have liked Power Rangers at some point. I watched it when I was younger, and I didn't have a single goddamn clue what was going on besides sparks flying whenever someone got punched. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's automatically goodIt seems as though some gamers are in distress merely because their favorite hobby is in the mainstream now, and I don't see any problem with this. The more attention gaming gets in mainstream media, the more money the developers can make. Surely this will lead to exploitation the industry and games that are made solely for profit (ie, EA and Activision) but if that means games like COD4 and Half-Life 2 will be made, that's a small price to pay. Having said that, since gaming has shifted focus from the niche to mass appeal, games haven't become "worse" by any definition but they certainly have become easier. I believe that everyone should suffer like I did when I was 4 years old and beat Super Mario World without any stupid Luigi Super Guide option, but I digressThe lowered difficulty curve has been a target for message board ire for awhile now and I think that's why some are woefully misguided to believing that the games industry is decadent. After all, easier games make the medium more approachable to new adopters and this trait is concomitant with gaming's increasing presence in the mainstream. However, we can't just go back to the days of Mega Man X. While that was an awesome game, there's so much more potential that can be tapped with newer technology. I can play that game only so many times until I ask for something more recent, something that can show for how much Capcom has learned since then. In short, elitism is the bane of progress. People just need to accept the fact that the industry will change, whether they like it or not. You want Duck Hunt? Go f#%k off to your NES, thenLastly, graphics. From a technical standpoint, without graphics, there would be no videogame (so don't gimme that YOU NEED GRAPHICS TO PLAY s#!t. That logical fallacy is played out, lemme tell you). From an aesthetic standpoint, graphics can add an immersion factor to a game, such as Far Cry; part of that experience is to feel like you're actually in the game. Not much is lost if a game looks outdated (ie, Left 4 Dead has awesome gameplay) and I have yet to come up with any examples of "bad graphics" detracting from a gaming experience. If you have any, please present them to me. I play video games to have fun, not to fap to high polygon counts. If realistic graphics were actually crucial to a gaming experience, would we still be playing Super Mario Bros. and Diablo II?Ughh, i hate the people that think games are getting worse. The majority of video games have always sucked and will continue to always suck. Nostalgia seems to make people stupid
