- HP: Health points. Basically how much damage the character can take before getting KOed.
- EP: Energy Points. This is used for performing special attacks, but how much remains also has an effect. If it's high, the character gets a minor overall stat bonus. If it's low, the character gets a stat penalty. For some characters, if this hits zero, the character will faint as if his or her HP hit zero.
- Strength: How much damage the character can deal, and how much weight he or she can carry for items and equipment, and moving obstacles.
- Intelligence: How effective energy/psionic/magic special attacks are in dealing damage. Characters with high intelligence can even repair and operate mechanical systems, restoring certain characters' HP, opening hidden paths, and improving combat performance.
- Technique: How well the character can use and learn melee and weapon skills.
- Endurance: How well the character can take damage. The higher this is, the less damage attacks deal to your character, and the more maximum HP the character has.
- Vitality: Affects the character's agility and maximum EP.
- HP is based mostly on the endurance stat and partially on the strength stat
- EP is based on vitality and intelligence.
- Strength increases when the character uses melee and weapon attacks of any kind, and when carrying heavy objects.
- Intelligence increases when energy-based skills are used, and when the character attempts to operate machinery.
- Technique increases when melee/weapon specials are performed.
- Endurance increases when the character takes damage.
- Vitality increases slowly when any action is performed. It increases at a greater rate when the character is suffering stat penalties due to nearing maximum carrying capacity.
