Dementium got me really trembling that i had to put it down because my hands were shaking so much, lol. and the fact that the saving there sucked big time meant that you really can't afford to not be scared (or cautious) because you'll end up backtracking a lot. throw in limited ammo, then you're practically forced to run for the most part.oh yeah, Fatal Frame too. i never finished it. i couldn't, lol.

The worst for me was probably Shadow Hearts. As humorous as the game could be at times, the monsters got to me. The animations of how disfigured they were bad enough, then they all had their own special description detailing just how they got to that point. I had nightmares about some of them. The fusion beasts were almost as bad.An honorable mention goes to, of all things, Prof. Layton and the Diabolical Box. The whole ending sequence when you discover the truth gives me chills.

Batman Arkham Asylum was never hyped as scary but as I mentioned in an earlier post like 2 months ago, the Killer Croc sequence when you're having to move slowly through an endless maze of sewer pipes while he randomly jumps out of nowhere to attack you. I mean wouldn't you be scared as hell if a 10ft tall crocodile jumped out at you. Also, the very first scarecrow sequence in the game. The tilted camera, bugs on the ground, shadows flashing on the wall, weird voices, walking into a morgue only to have a voice screaming at you to get out, leaving the room and ending up back in the same room, I thought it was so surreal and rather creepy first time I played it.

haha....I agree...Actually all scarecrow sequences freaked me out in Batman Arkham Asylum + Killer Croc. I hate the feeling of not knowing where Killer Croc is going to come from + the narrow planks that you have to run on in order to get away from him.Dead Space - definitely. I only managed to play till halfway thru the game. My heart cldnt take the fact that there is actually a monster that keeps chasing you in an air vacuum and you simply cant kill him. And did anyone pump up their volume to hear the random whispers in the background. Freaky!Another to add to this thread: God of WarA few of the fighting sequences freaked me out because there was a timer. I hate timed battles - stresses me out alot. Also want to add Prince of Persia (the first game) when you are trapped in rooms with sand monsters. The environment is creepy. Also makes you feel so lonely as everything is falling apart around you

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the gamecube. The game literally messes with your mind! For example, you could walk into a room, and suddenly the game tells you there's something wrong with the controller. You watch as your character helplessly gets killed. Then, it you're suddenly outside the room as if nothing ever happened. Your character also has a sanity meter and when it drops, he begins to hallucinate.

As a youth, the first level or two of Devil May Cry almost deterred me from the rest of the game. Good thing I pushed through them.

I am so totally on board with this. The worst is when one of the trappers sneaks up on you and teleports you to another dimension. Plus, it's so freaky when the walls start bleeding, or you walk into a room and start to shrink. It is without a doubt the scariest game I've ever played. As a solid second place winner, I'd say Metroid Fusion. Out of nowhere you get chased and nearly killed. I still have nightmares about the SA-X.

Zelda OoT scared the crap out of me with the zombies that would scream then chase after you. Twilight Princess was another one with that mirror that scares the crap out of you. Plus, Majoras Mask with that part when it stares at you and plays that creepy music. For some reason, it seems that the Zelda games seem to be scary when they're not hyped as scary.

Hmm none have been that scary too me but there is one that got me bad (a bit off topic since this game was meant to be scary) was the first resident evil. I was very stoned and went over to a friends house to help him with his plants and he was playing RE1. he had the whole big screen big sound setup. well we started drinking, and smoking while we played. and out of f***** no f******* where was this huge F****** spider thats jumps from the damn wall. not going to lie I jump and probbally screamed like a little girl. (Give a guy a break I have arachnaphobia)

Lost Eden. I was five years old when I backseat-played it from over my mother's shoulder--it's rated for pretty much all ages, but it's got close-up shots of mummified corpses, decapitated heads (dinosaurs, but still), creepy monster-people (just look at some screenshots), and man-eating dinosaurs who run up behind you and eat you alive if you're not fast enough....Naturally, I loved the game.
