well you cant compare them, it all depends on what game you play, but the online experiance is so different form the single or career mode, so its so hard to tell, online gaming is awesome, but single player is awseome too, i mean if you buy a game for its online gaming fair enought but if you a buy a game for the single and it has online gaming too, then that just freeking sexy

i think it depends on if you want a challenge..in single player it can be fun, but against people online it can be really fun

I personally like online because of the challenge it provides and it does get boring with single player after a while...

That's a hard question. It really can't be compared as said above. but sometimes I like single better, there are way too many things to worry about when online. Like network and such.

OK.. Here's the deal....At first you will definitely play offline games/single players. That is the usual learning curve. RPGs, Action, Adventure, you name it! Then multiplayer will be introduced to you, and gaming will never be the same. Lastly, you will engage in ONLINE games that will revolutionize your gaming experience. Those three are very separate experiences. The first one gives you the "inner gaming peace" as I would like to call it that is required in some games such as the epic award-winning RPG Final Fantasy Series! The other two kinda plays with your "social gaming needs" which is healthy. You don't wanna grow up being the guy on the corner of the classroom but you also don't wanna be the super-geekisque type who beats the hell out of everyone.... in your own virtual world. To answer your question, those three aforementioned gaming options give different authentic experiences. So there is no best way.

Different games for different times. Adventure/exploration games are usually best when you're by yourself. Quick paced competition games are better when you have friends to rag on.

Ah. The great Halo Vs. Metroid Prime debate, basically. This is the main thing I see with Prime 3 and Halo 3. Halo 3 plans on completely mastering online (whether or not they actually do we'll all find out) with four player co-op and the usual halo 2 online stuff, while Prime 3 aims to really nail the single player using story, near-perfect controls and artistic design. So, really, it's all about both the game and personal preference. If you want a great, immersive story with a lasting experience, intellectual growth and maximum developer polish, go offline. If you want an intense, adrenaline filled battle with highly challenging human opponents but less time spent on variety, all from the comfort of your living room, go online.Course, you didnt even mention local multi. I mean, pretty much every game has multiplayer, so you can at least battle four friends from home if you get an offline game.

It's already been said that you're going to use single player to learn how to play, enjoy the plot of your game if there is one.I like online multi-player games because you have social interaction, among other things. Also someone to take cover behind when you get the crap kicked out of you. You don't usually have that in most single player games. The only bad part about online play, is you have to deal with people you'd usually punch in the face for being annoying in reality. People that spam, or use what i call "retardtalk"; you know, those that think single letters other than *I* and *A* are actual words? "U r a dummy". Stuff like that. If those kinds of people would sorta go away...multiplayer would be a much nicer place.

It depends. I like online games if it's a team-based game, and that your team members are willing to accept your mistakes. However, the team games I have played so far were pretty bad. It was only a matter of time before the players started to shun me away because I was always a noob.
