My parents think that I should have more productive activities than watching anime. "Umm...sure..." Like i'll do that!

they hate it because it's violent and fictional and it wastes good time that could be spent studying or something..

My mother does not care about it cause she also watches anime like Inuyasha and D.Grayman but my father say it's for children then when he saw 2 minutes of Cowboy Bebop he totally stopped me watching it because he says it is too violent and for adults

my mom thinks its just a bunch of cartoons like saturday morning stuff but it's not!!! it's far more interesting and more into teen and adult life.

Because it's incredibly stupid. It doesn't matter if it's violent or vulgar, parents hate it because it's mindless drivel that glorifies the unreal or the unusual, and the fact that children obsess over it and base themselves around it. The only thing worse than obsessing over anime is relating yourself to it, and it's what the children do.Anime is not a good influence, people. It's not "mature," it's fictional.

Parents hate Anime because they think it is the same as American cartoons that you should grow out of by the time your 10.

Because they don't realize that they themselves have watched it once(i.e. Astroboy, Gigantor, etc.)..Because it is a newer thing(like video games) and they're not accustomed to it..Because after seeing one or two episodes of a series, they think they've seen what 100% of it is..And things you all have already covered..

My mother thinks their face are unrealistic... as in the eyes are too big. Not natural. She hates the idea of big round glasses...and most of all. She hates the female voices that sound fake.=_=; Sadly, she passed by at the wrong time, when I was watching the type of anime she doesn't like.

My parent didn't complain about anime nad manga. but I think most parent hate it because our mind have not mature thus easily influent. that why they are worry about our mentality stable. we can like for example watching too much Naruto try to use low rank taijutsu and use handsign.

...isn't it the same thing as watching cartoons...? i dunno...but i think anime's kinda influencing if you watch the right anime you can actually learn alot form it :/

Both of my parents watch anime. My dad owns all the Hayao Miyazaki movies except for Whisper of the Heart, used to own the box set of the Nausicaa manga, and introduced me to Tekkon Kinkrit.
