i would have to go with steve vai. he is absolutely amazing. i have seen and heard him play all kinds of genres of music, and very fluently as well. i can also say he is a very kind person and cares deeply about every one of his fans.

My signature did not comply with the specifications found in the board rules. I was gonna fix it but I kind of like the one the DGEmu Staff left me with better :)

Honestly, I think one of the best out there has to be Alex Lifeson from the band Rush, honestly, just listen to the beginning of Spirit of Radio or the solos in Red Barchetta and say it isn't impressive. Also, Gary Rossington and Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd are pretty awesome.

*sigh*Before he died no-one was saying that. Now that he's been shot, every motherBuck Bumble™er who thinks they know music is shouting his name from the rooftops.Dime wasn't as good as people make out. Good yes, not the best. Not by a long way.

I'm a bassist, so I really look at bass players....my favorite is Yamada Takahiro of Asian Kung-Fu Generation.....he's REALLY good...I mean, you can actually her the bass guitar distinctively in their songs...

Dimebag Darrel is nowhere near the greatest, his solos are mostly wankery.
