john petrucci is way better than hendrix could ever dream of being, he has evolved way past hendrix, and i could have sworn i saw someone saying they thought the gayest guitarist ever synister gates was good, im not gonna tell people that their opinions are wrong but that made me angry

Satch is okay, but Vai is a bit overrated. He can play fast, but he has no...soul, I guess you could say. No substance. On that note, I would say either Stevie Ray Vaughan or Jimi Hendrix would have to take the cake for me.

I would probably say Dimebag Darrel. Jimi wasnt the absolute best since he didnt stand the test of time.

i'd reverse your comment imo, i think jimi has stood the test of time moreso than dime, though dime could absoluely rip it up.

Differnet styles...Keith Richards... rhythm and swing god. Eric Clapton: Smooth, silky, slow, laid back styleDavid Gilmore Electrifying, haunting, distortion... Comfortably numb anybody? Jimmy Page... technical brilliance, just all rounder. Hard to defineBrain May... melodic, chorus like playing I know there are plenty more, but those one are the great guitarists I've heard alot.
