2D, i mean there is nothing like Kof, and Guilty Gear, also i feal 2d games a lot more freedom to makine combos, i dont know, i feel 3d games a bit "formulaic" (premade combos, like in Tekken), on the other hand 3d games, have a better defense system, stuff like sidestep realle add a lot to the gameplay....

2D fighting games generally feature complex button combinations specific to each character; it's VERY difficult to even master just one character alone if you're just a casual gamer.3D fighting games are easier on the newbie, but less fancy. I like Soul Calibur 2 a lot though.

Street Fighter will always have a special place in my heart of hearts, and for that, 2D fighting games are the greatest and require the most skill and finesse. I love the Soul Caliber series, but you can have a tap button fest and win on that game sometimes.

seriously speaking, 3d fighting games would make my eyes goggy.as for 2d ones, they have complex combinations such as maybe 4 different buttons to be pressed at 1 time to lauch a really powerful move. King Of Fighter ALL THE WAYbut also, i should maybe try some 3d games on fighting ? any suggestion ?

i prefer 2D fighting games over 3D. but i do like the side stepping in some of the 2D fighting games(ie. KoF). i'm not saying that 3D fighting games are bad, i love the soulcalibur series >.<.you can also do more with 2D ones like more special moves. but 3D ones are moreso for combos. so i guess they both have their advantages...but I still prefer 2D!

2D forever and ever.I can't use to the 3D games. They don't have the same charisma and aura of the 2D games. It's a shame that this type of game is very rare nowadays.GG is getting boring wiht so many reciclates and a Street Fighte 4 is a utopia...

Definitely 2d for me. Biased opinion though. I was raised on 2d fighting games. :)

I have to say 3d because Soul Calibur 2 was the best thing ever. I still love that game, even though it's been out for years. I love how you start out just mashing buttons, but then you actually train with a character and realize the full potential of every fighter. Weapons Master was a refreshing concept as well.

I'd say 2D for the fact that combat can be much more smooth, and also much more fast paced, and flashier in some senses. 3D combat is good as well, as I am a fan of the DoA and Soul Calibur series.

2d is classic, i love it. still havent really gotten used to the whole 3d fighting things. the controls are always really awkward.

2D fighters have much more depth than 3D fighters can ever hope to achieve.

2D all the way, Guilty Gear, JUS. Though 3D fighters, just as good. Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive. FTW

There are good things about both, and both have their fare share of bad titles. Personally I like 2-D fighting games, because I like the way they look, and seeing good old animated sprites. But I also love Soul Calibur, and all of the Budokai:Tenkaichis. I would say that 3-D fighting games are more strategic, because of the amount of ways you can move, it takes a little more skill. But 2-D fighting games are very limtited in a spacial way where you can only go so far.
