My SP had this serious problem where it would shut off and restart (like a soft reset) if I pushed the A or B button too hard. At first, I was completely baffled by this and thought there was some sort of faulty wiring connection that developed over the years (the thing was about 4 years old at the time). So for months I played my SP with the utmost care, and would sometimes be tempted to throw it across the room when it reset in the middle of a heated battle. Eventually I took it apart and found that the screen is connected to this strip sort of thing with little connector panels all across it. It turns out that this strip needed to be inserted into the base of the SP (think sticking a cartridge into a system) and over time it had wriggled its way out. So when I pressed down hard enough, it actually increased the distance of this connection so much that it briefly disconnected, resetting my system. For a couple of hours, my SP was in two halves on the kitchen table as I fiddled with it until finally managing to slip it back in there. It took some doing, which made me wonder how the hell it came out in the first place.I also took apart my GBA. I hadn't used it for a while and it developed a problem where the buttons wouldn't work unless I pushed down on them REALLY hard. That was just due to dirt and corrosion of the connector pads. A little time and some cleaning easily fixed that problem.
