I think there should be changes, but should always have backwards compatibility, for example, Nintendo had a good idea with the Wii-mote, they designed a great controller, but put a port on the bottom to make it compatible with secondary controllers, where they could make classic controller add ons, also if the controller keeps a basic background, but makes slight changes, for example, the Xbox 360 controller, the moved the black/white buttons to above the triggers, making then easier to access, the buttons still do the same thing, just easier to press, making them compatible with classic games, or new Xbox 360 controllers, as for the same controller, it gets boring after a while, it's the same control style, the same look, it's the same, for example, the sixaxis controller, the tilt sensing was a good idea, but other than that, it's the same thing, there's not much change, and if it wasn't for sixaxis, it would just be a boring plain controllerSo a new controller would be good, they just have to keep backwards compatibility in mind

that's all fine and good, except that the freaking xbox 360 isn't even backwards compatible. anyway.... the Playstation's uniformity has been kinda cool, why change what ain't broken. actaully, you know what, I think I like that. Nintendo's crazy for changing controllers all the time. ... what were they thinking with the n64 anyway?

Retain good features and lose worse ones. It's the same cycle for everything. It happens with this because the PS controllers work very well.

Well, when you have a controller as awesome as the DualShock, there really is no reason for changing it up. As evidenced by the SixAxis. Their motion thing doesn't seem to be working out very well.

Erh, I don't know about the Play Station 3 controller, since I really don't fancy SONY products. Only Naruto Shippuden, XDBut on the topic of the new Wii controller(s), I don't like the one that looks like an actual Television remote, but the other 2 or nice.

I like having the same controller unless the controller is horrible and they have a new oen that is much better. Playstation controllers are great. but i much rather prefer Gamecube controller over N64. i hate the Wii controller though personally.

New Controllers add to the gaming experience for those gamers and hardcore gamers it give you a better experience. But if your a casual gamer it can make a game harder or more difficult for you it all depends on the level of difficulty you like to play on.

It's best to go with the controller design that's appropriate, regardless of whether it's "new" or not. The Playstation controller design has lasted this long because it was designed during the transition from 2D to 3D and thus was versatile enough to handle most game types well for a very long time, while Nintendo gears their controllers specifically to the intentions of their system and likes to experiment, and never bothered going with a mediocre catchall controller when they could specialize in what they wanted to do. However, now that half the genres the Dual Shock was designed to be able to play well are obsolete and 2D console gaming is basically dead, it's really showing its age against the Xbox 360 controller, which was geared toward more modern games and is much stronger in certain categories than the Dual Shock is. It also beats the heck out of the Dual Shock in terms of comfort, something I've always felt the Playstation controllers lacked compared to their competition. Even the original Xbox controllers fit the hand like a glove once you got used to them.

Not really a good thing because they might make it feel worse or the buttons are too spread out. If it worked in previous game systems then just leave it be.

Some change never hurt, I'm a relatively fast learner as well. I believe that change might be needed to get a new gaming experience or take a leap forward in the gaming development. Take NES and Wii, there's a huge difference in controls there but none the less they both produce the same addiction :lalala:
