i like the 3d sonic games it just pulls you into the game so much more

the new 3D ones can actually give u a feeling of rush which you would be expecting from sonic games! so new ones fro me.

Yeah, definitely the old 2D ones. Sonic just isn't a game that translates well into 3D.

Old ones are so much better except the gamecube one was pretty good.I haven't really played the 3D ones much, but I much prefer the 2D Genesis games.

old sonic games were on the same level as classic mario.the new ones are just awful. they need to really work on the cameras. c'mon sega, its not hard, check out RE4 and the new MGS

my girlfriend who is sitting next to me right now is very adament that the new sonic style is very wrong, she says he looks bad now and was cuter before, and that the new style is dumb...i never really liked the games much but for the sake of design i think they should have modernized sonic by sticking to the original and just making it better instead of changing features and proportions and style.

Old Sonic hands down. The new ones just keep changing game play and adding characters, not to mention the characters that have been around for a while have been redesigned and look awful. Also what's up with random humans? Sonic used to be mostly cute little creatures you had to rescue, now he's on Earth saving it. :|The gameplay just seems wrong now too. In Sonic Adventure 2 (I know it's far from new now) Tails was in a walker the whole time. They took all the fun out of being Tails in that game. I bought Shadow the Hedgehog used recently (because it was cheap enough even though I hate Shadow) and I find it to be not near as much fun as the original Sonic games. What the hell's up with the guns?

i like the old ones because they were simpler.. like the new ones have crap pop out and stab you in the butt while your running around at top speed

Well, I'm torn, sort of. I love the Adventure series, but some sonic games in ye olde times were way to frusturating. I also like the newer songs from the new games.... so I really don't know.

What functionality could possibly be lacking from the original genesis titles that is so critical to the enjoyment of a basic 2d platformer? They have smooth, simple controls and brilliant level design. They are the essence of fun. I guess I'm not all too familiar with the "functionality" of the newer sonic titles, but I have played all his current gen titles enough to get thoroughly frustrated by the unintuitive and honestly schizophrenic controls, and after Sonic repeatedly decided that the best course of action was to leap headlong off a cliff in a direction rather opposite the one I had indicated with my analog input, I swore off all the new sonic titles until he gives me reason to forgive him.

I like the #d ones before, especially the GC ones coz of the racing bit

I like the 3D sonic games because it shows a little more freedom, and gives a bigger challenge.
