I went with Bulbasaur, he was my favorite grass type out of the original 151 pokemon.

I liked Squirtle, but usually chose Charmander because of the serious lack of solid fire types in the first generation.On top of that, in FireRed/LeafGreen, you can get Suicune if you pick Charmander, so that's a plus.

usually charmander, since this forces you to train hard for the 1st 2 gyms(brock, misty).

i always pick water type pokemon because it can learn ice moves. besides squartle can learn skull bash! l love that move

Always Bulbasaur, just because he was the easiest to beat the first two gyms with. Charmander gets owned on the first AND second ones, and Squirtle doesn't work as well on the second.

Charmander cause he's so easy to train once you get past Brock and Misty. Charmander is just so strong

I always choose charmander. He's weak at the start of the game, but charizard is the strongest in the end.I've heard that bulbasaur is strongest at the beginning, and that squirtle is in the middle.Of course, I ended up using another cartrage to get all the starter pokemon so that I got a full pokedex. :)Also, I chose mudkip in saphire, because I liek him.

i always picked chamander but i beat it with bulbsaur only because it made first 2 gyms ez then i stoped using him lol

Squirtle, for sure. As Blastoise in RBY, he was nigh-impossible to kill, and sported a good STAB'd Special move (Hydro Pump) coupled with a decent physical move (Skull Bash). Combined with his stats, he was a beast. In the new remakes, there are Pokemon that can rape him, but in the good ol' days, he was one of the most feared Pokemon.

CharmanderCharizard was always cooler than the other final evo's :), and I'd always get the staple nidoran for brock
