mine was squirtle the turtle, cause i like marine animals, so i definitely picked it, it's a turtle, who wouldn't anything but a turtlelater on i always picked water starters (except piplup, man that is weeeeeeeeeaaaak) that time i chose turtwigbut the best pokemon (in my party anyway) are Marowak and Weavile (these guys totally own!!!)..ive said too much... again
Should I feel bad if I want everything to become ice cream?

How could you never find Oddish,Bellsprout and/or Paras?They were always really easy to find in the beginning.I was usually 50/50 between Charmander and Squirtle...I will choose bulbasor because i can find fire pokemon & water also but not grass....that what i think... what about u ??//

I'd always end up choosing Squirtle and not just because he was so useful early on and not because he could learn Surf. Oh no, I chose him because he evolves into one of my favorite ever: Wartortle. I love the lil' guy an' it probably has something to do with how awesome he was in the ol' Pokemon show. But, anyways, Squirtle was my number one consistent choice. Afterwords, in the later generations it went Totodile, Cyndaquil and the Fire Monkey Pokemon in the newest game. Of course, since I'm fudging the names, its pretty obvious I haven't played them in a while.

Oh wow, that was a long time ago. But yeah, Charamander. I like the element of fire. Of course, Nintendo saw fit to punish me for my bad taste, by making the early game more difficult. Didn't stop me, though.

The very first time I played I picked Charmander, from then on it was Squirtle all the way. Granted Charizard is cool, but with flying AND fire, it's just has too many weaknesses. Plus I always found you could do without fire. Occasionally I still pick Charmander so I can justify having a Gyardos.

Well since I started on gold I got stuck with pikachu. I then got smoked by the first gym leader. I eventually resorted to using 6 lvl 8 normal pokemon to beat him the first time. Of course only later did I learn Butterfree (sp) could easily smoke them.

As much as I love Charmander He never beats brock for me. So I always pick Squirtle.

I always chose Squirtle. I had turtles at the time and I love those crazy buggers, so my choice was always influenced by my pets haha

squirtle! always loved the water pokemon! i tried it once with chikorita, but i failed so bad! it just felt wrong, ya know.. so i restarted with totodile...

I always go with the fire breathing lizard that grows up and destroys everything. Once I traded it as a Charmeleon to my silver version, evolved it, and traded it back so it knew wing attack which with pokemon stadium (the first one) didn't recognize it as a naturally learned move. It always turned the text purple.

I chose Bulbasaur. It's Easy at the beginning two gym battles then the next 5 gym battles get difficult, then the last one is easy again. It allows me time to work on the rest of my team so that I don't end up beating the crap outta any one opponent; I like my battles to be challenging ALL THE TIME.

I used Charmander, awesome pokemon.Brock's not really that strong. I caught a Nidoran near Pewter City, and I trained it until it learned Double Kick, so I used it against Onix. I won.I used Squirtle.Do you people,like,not realize if you choose him,you get an unfair advantage over brock?

I'm a Charmander man! People always say he has trouble against Brock, but these people evidently never tried to use him. A level 12 Charmander can breeze right by just by spamming Ember (and he should be well above 12 unless you've purposefully avoided battles). Of course, Squirtle is easier and is probably the easiest starter overall, but I'd say Charmander and Bulbasaur are about equal. Bulbasaur totally destroys Brock with Vine Whip but he's a little harder to train because he can't just slaughter the Bug Pokémon with Ember like Charmander can.

i started with bulbasaur cuz it was good against the first 2 gym(first two gyms arent really as hard as people think they are anyway i used butterfree's confusion instead of the nidoran double kick) and i dont hav that many grass type pokemons that interest me
