I don't do it, and I'll never buy in-game currency. I see the point though, some people are just too busy/lazy to actually grind for the gold. I don't see any harm, since it actually allows people to efficiently use their time while playing a game.

No... I wouldn't want my account and all the time (and if I purchased gold/currency - money) I put into the game lost if/when the staff found out and banned my account. In almost all games, it's a bannable offense if you get caught. And for good reason - it messes up the economy.I have, however, spent real money on official in-game items to resell for the gold. (Though I suppose technically I invest to get artwork done of my characters. I don't really care about the currency itself. I earn plenty of that.)

Regarding official in game items and currency if I both enjoy the game enough and have the money to spare then I do not have any problem in purchasing them. While it may be a "game", as someone else has mentioned it is also the results of someones hard labour. The way I see it is if I am enjoying the fruits of their labour why not support them? After all if I have spare money and I do not spend it on this the odds are quite high that it will get spent on something else which could be considered 'wasting it'.

I did one time in WoW but the money was NOT worth it. I recommend just getting it yourself.

No way. The way I see it... You're paying REAL money for a fake currency that has no bearing on the real world. They are *pixels* on a screen. Especially with the economy being as it is, does this really seem like such a wise move? That's great for the people who can afford to do so, but for the rest of us.... I dunno. It seems really wasteful.

I don't "buy" gold. I use a site that has "forum gold" that i trade off items in old games i don't play, for items in games i play now.like i traded all my Runescpe stuff off (i know, i know) for FG, and then bought lots of other stuff (2moons, WoW when i played, etc)so no, i don't use cold hard cash to purchase items.

I and my friends have purchased gold for an MMO. We were high enough level that we could have earned it, but it would have taken a long time. At the time we were just focused on building up crafting skills, which became pretty expensive at later levels.Of course, being single back then and having more money coming in than I needed didn't hurt.

I would never use real money for any game. When your addicted to a game, you really want to, but after a while you won't play it that much anyways and it'll just be a waste of money.

I wouldn't. Never. Not for the currency or anything else. Not even for the premium membership. In Maplestory, I believed people could buy Meso bags and that messed up the economy. People could wear legendary items at low levels. And they did. Many of them. Oh how I envied them.

This really depends on the player of online games. People who doesn't have the time to log in every week and invest all the time available but still wants to get an edge. Most would rather exchange time than money to advance in the game (and doesn't have credit cards or can't their parent's cards). Course most games has certain things that can only be gotten through paying real life currency (clothes, armors, weapons and others).

i have never bought anything for a game. i don't ever think it should be done because then people can buy their way through the game and it takes the fun out of it. i discourage buying items for games. it should be earned.

Goldsellers ruin games if you ask em. In WoW its quite noticable how some prices are completely unrealistic. While the effect isn't dramatic yet it is clear how it hampers a game. One has to wonder what role the game devs play though, if 2 hours of raiding requires 6 hours of prep (just an example) then somethings up.

This is an interesting topic, and I'll do my best to cover it in some detail.I definitely don't have any qualms about buying it, but don't think I ever would. If a game is already requiring me to spend money, I don't think it's generally worthwhile to spend additional money for in-game rewards. If I do have a reason to buy gold, it's probably got to be for an exceptional game with an extreme gold price for something that's incredibly worth it. I don't think this is the case in any game to date, but it's a hypothetical.

I personally would not spend real cash for in game currency. First thing is that I do not have a steady income. I would much rather spend my money else where. Second, spending real cash for in game currency makes the game too easy. I will have a greater amount of money compared to others of my level range. It just takes the fun out of the game.

These online games offer you to pay real money for fake stuff which they can generate instantly at no cost. Why bother paying for their stuff. Also you only play these online games with your friends for the fun of it, not to be the best at the game. Unless you're a very competitive person currently ranked top 100 or so in the game.In my opinion, it's not worth paying for, since I play these games for fun. Also what difference does it make when you purchase these extra items. The game is depended on your skill, rather than how deep your pocket goes. If buying all the extra items gets you stronger, but you cannot land a hit on your opponent, then there is no point in having better equip items.Bottom line is... Nope never paid for any free online game which involves paying with real money.
