Midnight Club or NFS. NFS for its sheer enjoyment, but MC for its wide selction in cars (we're talking 3 and 4 here) and the fact that, unlike carbon and underground, it has day and night.

The San Fransisco Rush series is incredibly awesome and mostly overlooked.

I think mario kart is the best because it combines racing and strategy. Its also pretty good when it comes to multiplayer, especially MKDD

Need for speed pro street was one of my first PS3 games. Kept me entertained. The story is lacking, but controls and steering are solid. The graphics were okay, and the car had some real weight. The physics made the driving a dream. The drag mode was good, and the top speeds were amazing in some of the better cars maxed out with upgrades. It's all you want from a racer, even if its not a meg-hit of the NFS franchise. But it has everything you want. This isn't the typical need for speed, through the city with cops in tow, racer. This game has your classic circuit, drift, time attack, checkpoint to checkpoint, and drag races. But also includes two neat top speed modes. Recording: 1)the highest speed possible, and 2) recording speeds at checkpoints in a checkpoint race and tallying them at the end. Granted some of these are road races but because the story takes place inside a "legal" racing circuit you don't have cops plowing into you sirens blazing while you're drifting around a dude for first place with only a lap left. It's fun, it's fast paced, and it's just good. If you got a PS3 it's worth $20.

Other than star wars pod racing I don't like racing games because they're boring and after a while you get sick of winning everytime.

Any 'Burnout' game, probably the only racing game where i cant get from one end to the other! Every other racing game my position is always last or second last, in burnout 90% first!

1. Fast, destructive, arcadey, ridiculous.-> Burnout, Beetle Adventure Racing, Mario Kart, etc.2. Gran Turismo.-> I often want one (and just one) realistic racer, and GT is, imo, the best. Right now I've got GT4 for PS2, and I still play it occasionally. If I get PS3, I'm jumping on GT5, since it looks great. I don't know if I'll go for GTPortable, but hey, I've always wanted in on the go. Sitting down to play a racing game always felt like a waste of time unless it was, well, ridiculous (-ly fun).
