the increased action in the third makes it the best film although the second does come very close but seeing golem fall into the lava tops it for me he can be annoying sometimes :P

I like the fellowship of the ring the best, i thought the two towers was kind of drawn out and the return of the king was good, but it was a little drawn out as well.

ROTK was good, but the ending of it was really drawn out. it was almost like there were loads of different times it could have ended, felt like it ended.

Return of the King had more fighting and action and the way those ghosts killed those elephant thingies was funny. That's why I choose Return of the King!

i reckon return of the King is the best. the war at the big white city, (I forget, haven't watched it in ages)is great however the fact that the ghosts come and kill all the orks and oliphants kinda cuts it short, i know t is the only way they could've won but couldn't they drag it on a bit more. however the movie does miss out on the charcter known as Te Right Hand Of Sauron but he is shown in deleted scenes and in the game

I liked the first movie the best. Two towers was just a transportation run for movie number III.Return of the king was alright, but it lacked some of the atmosphere from the first.

I like all three of the films, actually. The first one is a lot of fun because it's the start of the adventure. The third is great because it provides closure and all that business (and I know a lot of people like it, but other than that reason I can't figure out why). However! I had to say the second one because it has one of my favorite characters in it-- at least from the films. I loved Grima Wormtongue (and the actor who played him) and he was mostly in the second film (not so much in the third unless you get the bonus footage). As far as the novels go... sadly I've only read the first :D

Techinically it was only supposed to be 6 books. After he died his publishers decided to split the six into three volumes. Just for everyone refering to them as the "2nd" or "3rd" books.Read the introduction people.
