ur kidding right? roughly a quarter or so 350's get the red ring of death, its a major problem. this is the first time ive heard of a 'yellow light of death', that said failure rates of the PS3 are pretty low. sry number23 but ur one of those unlucky few

Send it back to Sony and they'll send you a new one.

A 360 can cook an egg. That just means it will overheat and die a lot more easily. The 360s with falcon chips are better and won't RROD as fast as the old ones.

Sounds like something that would happen to me, I don't know what it is, but whatever Sony product I get, it usually breaks down or has some adverse effect, and most of it has to do with the fact the hardware just isn't capable for what I want it to do, even if that is what the device was built to doI have heard of other glitches that the PS3 had but I have never heard of the yellow light, and the fact that your warranty was expired, the PS3 wasn't even out for a year yet, was it? And isn't it known that Sony gives out at least 1 year warranties if not 2 year warranties? So either you did something to void your warranty that they asked you over the phone, or they scammed you

Hmmmm mine works perfectly and i havent dusted it in a while. I also leave it one for about 8 hours at a time in folding@home. Is your ps3 put in a properly ventilated area.

Don't be too surprised by this, having worked in the industry for a while it is happening on both sides of the console war. Seemingly Microsoft have managed to monopolise the bad press but it is fairly common in both machines. I know of at least a dozen cases of PS3 shut-downs but i guess sadly thats what warranties are for!! Funny thing is i had a 360 since Jan 2005 and the thing thats killed it is GPU failure.... As for ther cooking an egg comment, doesn't anyone realise that it might be a good idea NOT to squeeze it into an unvented spot.....

Buy a new PS3. It's not that hard its so easy to buy how much is it because you could always get it at Wal-Mart.

Even if you leave it out in the open, it doesn't change the fact that it's very hot and that the failure rates are very high.

Instead of saying "I cast BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH upon you!", it's "I cast YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH upon you!"

LAWSUIT LAWSUIT. Also, I believe its called "Red eye of death." Then again, my yahoo news could lie.

Instead of saying "I cast BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH upon you!", it's "I cast YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH upon you!"

Ahaha, bringing back memories, huh? Get phoenix Wright, we'll figure this out.

I've heard about that, apparently it happens to the first generations of ps3, when it tries to update it breaks down, and sony does not help you with it even if you have your warranty, they just give you another one and some credits.

But i got to ask were did you see the yellow light was it were you normaly plug in the controler or the area around the one switch. Cause this is staring to make me wounderYou know what i think sony was doing that on purpose so they could see some more ps3 cause aprently sony ps3 isn't selling to well right now
