Most Teens Get their hand on them anyway, so why make the border? I mean Mature games should be rated so if they contain nudity or drug related things. Not by things lyk curse words or blood or violence. I think they should change that. What do you think?

well u gotta remember that is humans rating the games and people make judgements differently, which means either way the borders are blurred. If the ratings board is lax on a game that should be rated teen, then parents will complain and the game might get recalled, however, if they are too strict and rate a game AO when it should be M, then the game cant be put on the shleves for most console makers. Either way u look at it, it puts the board in a tight spot, so natuarly, borders may contain discrepancies.

M-rated games should only be for games that truely deserve it (Gore, bad influence).

personally i think the only reason a game should be rated m is if - 1 use of drugs, 2 nudity, 3 cursing as much as south park

Some of the ratings may be considered hipocritical because even if a game is rated AO, like Manhunt 2 originally, the rating may be changed just by blurring some of the violence in it, Manhunt 2 is now rated M.

I own many games that do not deserve an "M" rating. Such as...1. Zone of the Enders {only reason for the rating is because of the MGS2 Demo it came with. Huh?}2. Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner {one scene with a little blood and some minor swearing. That's it.}3. Gungrave: Overdose {you can turn off the blood, leaving only some minor language.}Those are just a couple of games that don't deserve the rating. They need to create an "upper teens" rating, for games which are not "T," but are not offensive enough to deserve that "M" rating. I don't see how Vice City and Zone of the Enders can get the same rating. That's messed up.

As a parent myself to a 12 year old I don't think they are too over rated. Here in Oshawa Ontario you have to show ID to buy a rated M game.

Oh I agree.I don't see how some got their M rating. Take Devil May Cry for instance. Oh no! Dante's a half-demon, half-human with an over-sized sword, twin pistols, a shotgun and many other weapons and his brother's a serious bad ass? quick, rate it M! I don't see how that makes sense. Sure there's blood; lots of T games have blood in it. Castlevania HoD for the gameboy advance had blood, violence, AND swearing in it. Yet that has a T rating I believe. Or, take for example Castlevania Curse of Darkness. It's also rated M. It has blood, violence, and swearing yet again, nothing we haven't seen/heard before. I just see why they keep putting out games and rating them M when at least half of their clientel (excuse the spelling pl0x) are teenagers.

there definitely needs to be a change a perfect example of the esrb failing is the zone of the enders series...i can understand why zoe 1 was rated m - it came with a demo of metal gear solid 2. but there was absolutely no reason for number 2 being rated m. i believe that the esrb need to have actual gamers help in the rating process. having people who dont know video games decide on how they should be rated is wrong.

In some cases they work for the "M" simply trying to sell more games.

The ratings in the games aren't just given blindfolded. The games are tested by so-called professionals and then are rated. M-rated games contain a lot of games such as explicit content, drug-related material, etc. Well, I think that the ESRB folks are just doing their job. No problem. But that is a pain in the neck sometimes. The video reviews look so good and you want to own that game but when you come to know that it is has a Mature Rating, you can not play it because you aren't 18+ But there are other games as well. Come to think of it, I never got to play Doom 3... But I don't care. I still play other games on my PS2. But I do get to play Mature games at my brother's place. But I have an idea: Mature games should be remade for teenagers or the kids hopefully....

uhh... no they are not over rated. i dont understand how a rating of a game can be overrated.well it's up to esrb to control what they rate the games, its not up to us gamers to beg and whine about what the rating should be.

I think they should stay with how they rate games, because even if they over rate games its only because they dont want the game influencing kids espically if its a famous game like GTA

A M-rated game on your hand, and you know for sure you will have a fun time while breaking some bones.

The only problem I have with the "M" rating is that most retailers require you to show ID (in Canada anyway), or bring someone who is 18 or over (e.g. a parent). I have many games which contain more gore than the sexual content (or none at all), and my parents don't have a problem with that because they know I am "mature" enough to play them (heck, they even stated that games should rated "M" only for their sexual/drug use content; violence is no problem). However, the retailers can't exactly say "he/she can buy this "M" rated game because he/she is more responsible than him/her" - that would be ridiculous.

There r probably less kids who get them if they R M-rated but if they want it they probably get them anyway, but it's still good to know if they contain nudity/gore etc.

M for mature games are over-rated in my opinion but I guess little kids shouldn't play 'em.
