Haha, no, I don't take it to school (Uni) because you don't enjoy playing that way. You are more aware of the teacher not cathing you rather than having fun playing the game, so it's not worth it.

I don't take any valuables to class. XD But even though I see plenty of other people with DS's, none of them actually play it in class.

When I was substitute teaching a while back, I took a DS from a kid playing in class because he was being rather obnoxious about it. (I think it was second grade, I don't remember). But then I started thinking about my own DS and how pricey they are, and secretly gave it back to him at the end of the class with the promise of never bringing it back. And he kept that promise too. If we confiscated any electronic device from the students, it wasn't supposed to be returned to them until the end of the semester/year.

I've always had a problem with penalizing students for not paying attention. If they fail it's their own problem. As long as they're not being disruptive to others. Then again, maybe that's more of a college philosophy since there you don't have parents screaming at you when they're children are failing and various government programs encouraging doing well on standardized tests.

I've never brought my handhelds to school, too risky, and the rules are too strict. However, my brothers have had a AP Computer Science teacher who allowed them to play Counter Strike and StarCraft on the computers if they were done with their work...

Why would you take your game system with you to school? You should play it only after school.

WARNING - THE FOLLOWING IS SAD BUT TRUE:I don't actually own a DS yet - although I'm planning on buying one now that Pokemon Black and White have just come outso far I've only played on my computer via ds and gba emulators.and I've been caught doing that on my laptop at school a few times (at least until i discovered a program that hid my application window at the touch of a button)

I haven't done it overly much, but when I have I've never been caught >.< The teachers are pretty clueless most of the time.

I've never taken mine to school. It doesn't really make much sense for a high school student to do that since each class is only one hr long, the chances of getting caught are fairly high. Also if it gets confiscated then that will just be a pain. I've been caught on my phone but never a ds.
