i think downloading is all good because statistics show the songs most downloaded have the highest records sales so they dont lose money.

That is a hard one. I download mostly all of my music just because I dont think you should have to buy it. Although in the same sence, the bands that you like cant make money if your not buying their cd's. I say if you really like a band, buy their cd and go to their concerts. Download the rest.

well, it's not exactly illegal, but yet again it's not right to download. usually i download older albums that have been totally removed from the shops, or when i feel that they've been severly overpriced

Technically, it IS illegal, since it's like stealing the artist's song. Even if they're already rich and stuff, you still have to pay for their music because they worked hard to produce that CD. But, then again, considering I also download music ( XD ), I'll have to say that, as long as the user just downloads the music for PRIVATE USE only, then there's no problem with that.

It should be illegal, it is illegal, but people still download music and they'll continue to find a way to share music no matter what is done

Bands should make their money off concerts, rather than just recording songs and making money off that. Besides, the huge amount of difference that live music compared to non-live music would mean that people would still be going to concerts even if all the music was readily available off the internet. The bands would have to work for their money more, but its not like they would go bankrupt.

Downloading music is legal, and should stay that way. The stars make more than enough money even with free music everywhere you look.

i used to download music all the time, but i go to Ohio University, and if you look at the recent Rolling Stone magazine you should see that we are the #1 most targeted campus for music pirating. it sucks if they catch you the first time they shut down your internet until your call them, 2nd time they shut it down for the rest of the quarter, and not even to mention if the gov't or whatever catches you, you get a letter and have to pay $5 grand. And its not just music, i got my internet shutdown for downloadin the latest episode of "The Office." I mean i think we should beable to download music, theres no way they will ever stop it, too many people download ****. but now OU has banned any P2P file sharing, so if you get caught with like OurTunes or Limewire or anything to that extent you get sent to judiciaries and fined 250 and if its a repeat offense can get suspended. its ridiculous!

No WAY!! They say that people not buying cd's ruins the sales and doesn't reel in enogugh $$ but look at them THEIR FILTHY RICH!!! And it saves us like what about 500$ a year at the least. I think that the artist shou8ld look at the world more closely and see how much people save by dling music offliune and not haveing to buy like $15 cd's... Post youre opinion

So, wait, music should be allowed to be legally stolen because the makers of the music are rich anyway? *groan*I won't deny that I'd like it to be legal. I used to download music a bit until my ISP sent me a cease and desist. I don't care, though, because I understand why it's illegal. You can't dispute the fact that taking a song freely off the internet is illegal. Period. If you attempt to, you are just trying to justify the fact that you want to download music.

My opinion is that if they can't make it impossible to rip and distribute music, then it's okay. I know it's like theft, but no ones stopping me so why stop?

I don't buy cds because I don't like a majority of the songs on an album. I just download the few I like. Yes, I download music...and don't pay for it. Get over it.

i dont want it to be illegal, but it probably should. soon, artists/labels will be so poor that they wont even be able to release albums, and when that happens, there'll be no albums to pirate and the P2P community will die...

we should be allowed to listen to an artist's works to see if we like them or not and its kinda hard to dowload entire albums, so I dont see why downloading should be illegal.

I don't think it should be illegal.I think downloading music for free gives artists an incentive to incorporate creative cover-art and make music that is enhanced greatly by full CD quality sound, since most music you download for free will be highly compressed.

yea i agree the artists are already rich and most profit on there records goes to there already loaded labels anyways which is lame becausre they get there millions and millions a year when we are down in the thousands a year and i dont see anything wrong in saving a little bit of money
