I'm pretty sure everyone has their own stereotypes of people they first meet. It depends on how you act on them, and how well you get to know the person to form your overall opinion. Stereotypes aren't necessarily bad, but I can't think of anything good about them either.

I certainly have judged a book by its cover even though I try not to. I think this is human nature because we depend so much on what we see which helps us form our opinions.

For people I dont judge a book by its cover (stereotype) but it does give me a minor first opinion, and I am not stereotyping, I am judging how you look such as really wrinkled clothes, shabby hair, alcoholic breath and stuff like that

it's human nature to develop stereotypes. i aint ashamed of it. stereotypes exist cuz they're based on statistics. stereotypes are true to an extent. course it don't apply to every individual within a certain group, but you can bet that a majority of folks in that category have stereotypical characteristics

ummm... yes i do, in fact. the only reasons for buying/ reading a book are recommendations, prize winning, and nice cover +blurb.

I don't judge someone until I've met them no matter what they look like or seem like I wait to meet them before I judge because the cover can be very deceiving. I look like a bit of a punk but really I'm a sweethearted scaredycat so I wait before I judge because I would rather others wait to meet me before judging.

I rarely judge the book by its cover. If the book has a really strange cover page then i might judge it or if it rubs me the wrong way.For people i dont because it not the right things to do. I dont even know them so i wont judge them because it not fair and i dont want people to judge me in the wrong way so i dont. I only judge people when i actually get a chance to talk to them.

To be honest, I make a base assumption for security. but even after that, I usually give the person a chance unless I feel unsafe or at risk for something dangerous. So I guess you would say yes I do judge.

Yep, nothing else to go on when you first meet someone. First impressions are pretty strong ones.

I do a quick judge of the cover, then if it looks interesting, I read the summary. If the summary is interesting, ONLY then will I read the book. ^^

I do judge a book by its cover, but its a little different from stereotyping. Everyone uses stereotypes. It's like a defense mechanism, because it sets a profile for each new person we meet so we can know what to expect from them. I don't think its wrong as long as you don't use to hurt people, like, use it as insults. And as to Asians driving badly, well, for Chinese people, at least. Mainland China people follow different rules for driving, because if they drove following the road rules of the US (or somewhere else) they would take 30 minutes to go as far as one block. They are used to those sort of rules, so its a difficult change and they end up driving like that in the US. I know this because I had a Chinese driving teacher and he talked about how Chinese driving teachers that come to America failed the drivers tests like 12 times before getting a license.

Of course. First impressions are everything. Esspecially in the work place. You have to leave a good first impression where ever you go. So when they remember "that guy/girl" They remember how you dressed, how polite you were and how friendly you were.

I shall try to not take it too "literally"...In short, no I dont; I will always "read the blurb" before I make my first judgement.IMO, "first impression" is more than just looking at someone---that's called stereotyping. We, well~ I (:);; ), generally form an "impression" of someone after having briefly interacted with the individual.Otherwise, there'll be people who'd never be allowed to enter examination halls/employment interview/whatever, because they'd be rejected solely due to their "first impression".

Most people judge a book by its cover, including me, because if the cover looks boring or the title isn't really attention-getting, then most people wouldn't want to read it

I definitely judge a book by its cover. Sometimes if it has an interesting name I'll look at it too though. Anything with magicians is usually a sure go with me. lol

Stereotyping is rampant in the world. I myself am guilty of doing it. Though I prefer to judge more objectively. Yes based on one's appearance or behavior I could judge what kind of person one is. But I prefer to not stereotype cause sometimes you never just know.

Well, sometimes I actually do judge a book by its cover, but I still read the back blurb and a few pages from the beginning of every book to make sure I don't or I do like the book. Sometimes, I may be wrong while I'm judging a book by its cover and I may end up liking it. Other times I just do not like the book at all.
