For those who said it's okay to judge a book by it's cover, because if you're walking down the aisle and you see a book that has a nice cover and another has an ugly one, you'll check out the nice covered one. However, the one with the ugly cover could have some valuable information that would change your life forever, and you didn't read it because you didn't like it's cover. Crazy isn't it? That is why I do not stereotype, and I hate it. Even if it is human nature, I don't like it. Sinning (among other things) is also human nature, that doesn't mean it's good. Hope this helps with your report.

I suppose I do, but I try to reserve actual judgement until I know them better; it's like I'll have a 'preliminary' opinion from the first time we meet, then I'll take into account any subsequent meetings and allow my opinion to change accordingly. This holds true for fictional characters as well; I don't know how many characters who were my "first-impression-favorites" turned out to be my least favorites, or vice versa, because I found out more about them or just looked at them from a different angle. The way I perceive people has several "layers"; when I meet someone, it's like peeling an onion. -The very first, or outer, layer is looks; I'm not talking about me thinking less of someone for being ugly, or because they dress oddly (actually, my fantasy-loving-self will probably like someone more for wearing strange clothes, which is probably one reason I love Japanese pop culture). I mean that I can tell a small amount about someone based on their appearance (though by no means can I tell everything, nor am I saying that this necessarily applies to everyone I meet). What I mean by this is that someone with a lot of frown lines might be angry a lot, or someone with crows' feet might laugh often.-Then there's their 'aura'; the 'vibes' I receive from people. Usually they're weak and don't have much bearing on how I perceive someone, but occasionally I'll get strong ones. For example, once I was in an office's waiting room, and a random man I'd never seen before walked past. After he'd left, I turned to my mother and said, "I don't like him." Turns out, he was my stepfather's boss, and just so happened to be a royal jerk.-Then there are the smaller things, like body language, voice tone, and on rare occasions even word choice. It's hard to explain what I mean by this, as someone who (for example) has their arms crossed might be subconciously--or even conciously--be saying "stay away", or they might just fold them for lack of anything better to do with them. Someone who uses a lot of large words might be pompous and trying to sound clever, or they might simply and genuinely have a good vocabulary. It really all comes down to context.

ur too smart using us to do ur homework!!well we all stereotype in some way its just natural, we see someone and automatically we want to know wa kind of person that person may be, so we try to generalize thier appearance, dress, behavior, speech etc with a group of persons we already have knowlege on, this can be very dangerous because some people have characteristics from a ceratain group or groups but upon an indept knowlege of the person, trough actallu becoming thier friend or whatever we may find that the person was fsr from what we expected, jocks may not be jerks, brutes may be gay, tomboys maybe quite the lady, that nerd may just be a wonderful person. i'm sure you already concluded all of this but what the hay this is my say... =pI dont jump to conclusions wth my first impressions of someone, it just comes as i come in contact with that personthere are three ways i have first impressionsVybes: that funny ticky feeling that persons give off and according to how it feels you may know that they are dangerous etc... kinda amimalistic dont you think cuz animals do the vybe thing quite often, dogs that are usually nice go beserk at a friendly face, cats hiss, etc etcLooks: physical appearance and dress, persons of different "stereotypes" for lack of a better word generally have a certain look assocoaited with them....Convosation: which is the most important but can b rather tricky to figure out cus that person may just be trying to deceive you

I find it almost impossible NOT to stereotype, although i always give people a chance to prove me wrong.

Sadly, yeah, guilty. But aside from manga I don't read a whole lot of books. And generally, with manga, the cover says a lot...

I don't judgeIt is like, everyone can be how they want to beor use any clothes they want to wearI think that the people that Judge before knowing about a personare a bunch os losers. That person that you are judging can becomesomeone important to you or would help you sometimewho knows?that's why I think it is better to learn from someoneinstead of Judging them :)

well, it's a bit hard to not get carried away by the looks of a person, still, I am the number one person trying to prove the oposite of the stereotyping, i mean, i am exactly as the oposite i look

I'd say yes, I do.Not just by the cover, but by the title, really...if the title doesn't appeal to me, I often don't even pick up the book. :\

not seriously. i was raised better than to think that all people of one race/religion/etc act one way, i'm not an idiot. i myself get discriminated against for being of middle eastern and chinese descent (yes, both.. and more) sometimes my friends and i make racist jokes but it's definitely a joke, and i know i'm not racist which is why i can joke about it.

Yeah, unfortunately stereotypes are true for the most part, which is sad, but they apply to a lot of the people I know.
