I definitely stereotype. If I see Aeropostale, American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch etc, that stupid preppy haircut or a skinny little white dude dressed like he came from Compton, that's like blood in the water for me.

I try not to be a stereotype, but I always end up gossiping about the African people i see on the street. Stereotyping is not good cause, there are many African scientists and many help poor people in many countries. Anyone can make a difference. A human is a human, right?

Stereotyping is something we all do. No matter how hard we try not to. I don't really judge people though I make small assumptions at first sight. I am apt to give my trust to certain people only because of past experience with people of their nature. This is about the only form of stereotyping I use.

I have found that it's better to use stereotyping to my advantage. There are "positive" stereotypes like "people who dress nice are friendly."

Use stereotyping as more than a way to judge the essential being of a person: to complement other methods of evaluation. For example, while you can't figure out much from a person's ethnicity, you can determine that the person will generally fit into one of several modes. Then, as you get to know the person better, you can make better (though not necessarily truer) assumptions.

Well, in terms of manga, yes, because the cover is drawn by the same person who does the actual drawing inside the book, and I don't like reading manga with horrid/average drawings. But in the case of novels, I don't. I read the summary and then I decide if I want to read it or not.

Stereotypes are harmful when you look at the oppressed versus the oppressor institution. For people who are oppressed stereotypes act as limitations for growth, but to the oppressor stereotypes can and are used as justification for discrimination or bigotry. So it depends on who is judging the book. Make sure you site the people from the forum. Plagiary = bad. :P

If I haven't heard of a book before or read reviews of it, yes, I do judge it by its cover. I haven't bought many books.

Everyone stereotypes and more commonly profiles.Stereotyping is the trivial judgement of a person. Who really cares if you do or don't...Profiling is beneficial and we all do it. Like if you walked into an all black neighborhood and saw ONE white guy there you'd have every reason to believe something was unusual.Anyway, I cant go into to much detail cause I gotta go to work. Judgeing people and situtions with prier experience is kinda necessary to everyday life.

I don't judge a book by it's cover, but there are still some people out there that fit stereo - types perfectly, and so I think that it's ok to do stuff like that.

I do judge a book by its cover. That gives me the first impression about a person.

Sometimes. If it looks particularily interesting because of the cover, then I look at it. But mainly, I judge my the back or inside flaps that tell the summary.
