I feel like if anything, they could just keep remaking the games and their fanbase will just grow with the new generation who didn't play them in the original consoles like we did. I for one did not play Final Fantasy until 9 and after playing it, I went back to play the old ones or the remakes of them. The series is just such a classic by now.

No i dont think so because they released so many games. It was one of the most hottest games when i was growing up. Though i dont really love the final fantasy series but i did play a bit of it at my cousin house.

No, it will probably go on for as long as it will make money, and that will be forever. So no, Final Fantasy won't ever die.

I haven't even beaten a single one of these games, but more than 15 of my friends still actively play and discuss the first Final Fantasy (and all the others). with a fan base like that, Final Fantasy will be harder to kill than Mario.

it will NEVER die.. it is such a good money-earning opportunities for the game creators anyway, so it will probably just stay forever, just like how pokemon is right now..

Even though for me personally, The recent games haven't left such an impact as the company when it was squaresoft,I think that they still Have what it takes to draw attention to their games.

I don't think that FF will die. As long as great memories of past series exists in the memory of all gamers (FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX etc ...). A remake might be around the corner.. who knows.

final fantasy will never die as a franchise. japanese corprorations in almost any field not just game development are far to fond of regurgitating the same thing over and over again.

It is dieing. Personally i think its because they are running out of story ideas and they are overthinking of creating original gameplay. I love old console type final fantasy. The recent final fantasy 13 is boring in its battle system. Since its real-time Practically it is auto battle from the start and only can control one character at a time. U cannot choose what attacks for the other characters and it makes it boring and unecessary difficult. If it continues like this even fans like me will be discourage. They are overdoing it for it sequels as well, unlike final fantasy 7 which has one of the best storylines and sequel story. Final fantasy 13 seems to me like they are trying to emulate ff7 franchise but failed.

Hmm... it seems like its possible. FF is slowly getting worse, and worse... and worse. But who knows. Maybe I'm just used to the old stuff. The new stuff is okay. Mostly my gripe is with FF13. Practically have to stagger everything then attack it then repeat until dead. Felt so repetitive and battles took too long most of the time.
I started skipping enemies probably around chapter 7 and got to chapter 11 or 12 and then got busy with something else... and then my PS3 broke had to send it to sony... my save is gone now... so I plan tgo beat it eventually to play FF13-2 but probably won't get around to it for a while. Didn't like FF12 too much either. Probably was the storyline with that one. haven't played X 9 or 8 played 1-7 and probably gonna get the PS3 version of 14 to try it out.

I think FF will only die if the game makers finally run out of ideas for monsters, the storyline, characters, etc ,which probably would be almost impossible. So FF will never die

I doubt it. I mean, they have rehashed the same basic story with saving the world for a while now, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for it. I think that it will probably end when it becomes way too expensive or something. I mean, the development itself.

I am waiting for the day when history repeats itself.... where Square-enix is on the brink of distruction, and they finally put all their heart and soul into a game again to make their final "final Fantasy".... maybe at that time... they will finally revive final fantasy. I think the last great final fantasy game I played was FFIX. Everything after X as been trying too hard to copy FF7...
